Default 1968-SHOW OF THE WEEK - videos!!!

The late night TV news April 20/2012 CBC showed a short segment of Gord singing "Song For a Winter's Night" from the 1968 Documentary show which was the same show he also sang "Face of a Thousand People," one of my favorite Gord tunes.

It was the show in which I was fortunate enough to be invited as a participating audience member.

Wendy Mesley, the CBC host was talking about Gord and his current interviews etc. when the short segment was presented.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else saw this as I missed the first part until "Marian from the Mountains" called to tell me Gord was on TV.

It would have to be somewhere in the CBC archives but I was unable to find any more information.

RJ.

I would love to see that Char if there's some way you could share it.

I remember during the taping of the show he forgot the second verse (The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead).

I was soooo tempted to shout out the words to him, but focused on more familiar words such as "lead us not into temptation" being the good Catholic boy I was brought up to be.

That evening would have to have been "thee" most memorable experience for me as a Lightfoot fan.

Time now for a little "zen" maybe.

If anyone has the answer to 'how to get it to my computer from the PVR?? ' i will do so. I sang out 'over me' last night at Rama when he pauses between Ribbon of Darkness and Sundown..lol

Yes, that was the most impressionable concert performance by Gordon Lightfoot I'd ever experienced.

After that show I became "lighthead2toe."

A newcomer to Toronto and in that year 26 years old, my girlfriend and I were seated, as I recall, directly facing Gord but this vid does not show us. The afro had not yet arrived JJ. It came later, maybe late seventies, early eighties. All us guys got them, even Gord bought into it. I guess you could say it was an era sort of thing.

Thanks for sharing this Char. I knew the CBC would have it stashed away somewhere in their Lightfoot treasure trove. We just need them to unravel the rest.

Nice Char very nice. Thanks for posting.

Ron - I lived back then too and while I had a lot of hair I never styled an afro. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you! I'd try one now - if I could, lol.
