I'm always skeptical before listening to someone cover Gordon, as nobody "does" Gordon like Gordon.
Having done so however, what comes to mind is how well his music stands the test of time. It's incredible how fresh and contemporary these songs sound when performed by talented young artists. I can imagine this version currently being used in a movie to project feelings of reflection and remorse.
On the flip side, after hearing jj's rendition of AS FINE AS FINE CAN BE on the piano, I can imagine it being played at a recital the late 1800's, or by Doc Holiday in a gambling house, i.e. Tombstone (a classy "joint" for only the high rollers, of course, lol).
These songs truly are timeless.
