Nope your pictures have to uploaded to a websapce account. They can't be linked directly from your hard drive.

you don't have a bracket after the first img ..only one at the front...
it should work if you add it after the [img]

"If at first you don't succeed suck eggs"!!
Buttt...although well spotted "Mystified Of Whitby" that is not the problem as young Gord so astutely pointed out you can only display a picture that is already on a web site and NOT still reposing on your hard drive NOR can you display a web page complete as the URL must end with a valid picture designation like jpg or gif (or for the purists png)
Never fear I have already started writing a completely revised tutorial to replace my original small talk forum one at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000109.html
since then I have (as JJ so quickly caught on and started using) discovered the free upload site http://www.upload4free.com
that I used to good effect on the test forum topic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000122.html
Although this is only an ultra simple short-term solution as there is a time limit on that site that I need to look at again to ascertain the details.
No the real solution is to find a properly free site that does allow hotlinking which is what you must do if you do not use either an existing picture or have your own web site to upload to Please also note that Sidney's MSN site works after a fashion but as I attempted to explain on yet another topic that fails because the resulting URL is so long the UBB system here messes it up hence the need to make a substitute "notlong" URL
Hang on a bit longer as I just need more time to sift through the over 11 million results Google gives on a search for "free web sites"!!!

lol, well, i'm sending that Gotti woman over!

THESE were my instructions! (sure, blame it on ME!):
>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>

you go to www.upload4free.com

then you hit the button beside the window that lets you browse for that filename on your harddrive, find it!

then you hit HOST and it will give you the url of your newly uploaded pic, copy the url by hilighting it, CTRL C

then go to corfid or wherever and put a:

right after the url and then you are all set, you will see the image in your post

makes sense, pal?
>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>

lol, i think the instructions were ok but i'm actually unable to upload anything also, LOL ( i keep trying, char!) with some sort of virus or internet hookup problem, our phones were down last 24 hours, could be related i guess

Bru, do not pass GO, do not collect $200!

Hey young Jim it looks like you have already edited your reply to remove your attempted link to an expired 4free URL
I have now checked and refound the note I saw the other day re this expiration factor
on their forum at:-

http://www.forums.4free-network.com/
In particular a question on

"How can I remove or replace an uploaded picture?" at:- http://4free-network.com/forums/index.php?s=34d7c10f68c264db8bf2047ecfc058db&showt opi c=11
answer
"you cant, they will be autodeleted in 30 days, just reupload the picture "

OK.OK. all you clever clogs out there but I have followed instructions to the letter - including the previously omitted [
and now guess what? I get a message telling me I am 'unauthorized to use this service'.
So, John - get your Tutor hat back on and explain that to me. Back later.

Now really Ms Bee ZeD I need more to go on than that to troubleshoot your efforts
Were you accessing thewww.upload4free.com site when you
obtained that urinate elsewhere message or what
I ask since not only me and JJ but the redoubtable Moderator and Violet seem to have had no
trouble or were you stil trying to insert the address on your computer??

Possibly our Bee ZeD has a picture file on her computer entitled Gord-RAH-June71.jpg which
to me suggests that it was taken of Gord at the Royal Albert Hall London in June 1972
A concert in those primitive pre-internet days I was unaware of else I'd have been
there
