Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukkah to all of you!
It's been a wonderful year getting to know all of you folks! Lots of interesting people, thoughtful questions thrown in with just the right amount of laughter makes this a terrific place to come. We are all pretty tolerant of each other and only occasionally have a set-to that our guide and web-master needs to sort out. Thanks to Florian for his loving touch!
I wish for all of you a safe and happy holiday season with those who you wish to be with at this time of year.
I wish for all of you in 2001 good health, happiness, love and laughter.
On a bigger scale I wish for peace in the world and tolerance for others to be paramount in all people's lives. In tolerance we will all find inner peace. Love and respect others as you wish to be loved and respected. It's very easy to do even if you don't have the same views of things - it's about being kind, compassionate and loving. Expect more from yourself in all areas of your life - you will be surprised at the results! I truly wish for each and every one a loving and peaceful 2001.

Thank you Char for a beautiful greeting.
Couldnt possibly hope to better it. Suffice
to say I understand and agree with every
word you wrote. A very Happy Christmas
and a truly spectacular 2001 - may we all
receive what we all wish ourselves and
then some - and always be nice to each
other.

Slightly late with this reply I guess, but I hope you all had a safe and happy Christmas. Briefly looking back on the year, I must say it's been a great one. Firstly, I discovered this site which led to chatting with like-minded people. That in turn led to me owning TWO Lightfoot concerts on video (plus many great extras). For me, no Christmas present could top that. More importantly, I have at least two very special new friends. Here's to an even better 2001.

Dear Charlene,
I am a new member to these forums, and a lifelong Gordon Lightfoot fan. A quick question: Do you know if there will be another opportunity (next year) to send Gordon a birthday greeting? I missed the chance to do so this year because I only recently got email, and I was very disappointed. If you are not the one to ask, whom should I contact? I'd like to send him an appreciative message for all the years of special music. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Kristin

Don't put off what you should do today!
He gets all of his mail - he just never answers it!

Dear Charlene,
Thanks so much for Gordon's address. Hope
to send him a note sometime soon with my thanks and appreciation. Finding this web site is a real treat! I've been a fan since I was twelve, and now I'm forty! In the last few years I fell out of touch with his music-
got busy with the career, marriage, and baby-never even went to a music store! Then I bought a computer and realized I could actually learn if he was still recording. I was missing the old songs, and was actually wondering if G. was still alive! (That's how out of touch I was.) Well, all my questions are answered, thanks to this website. It's great to see that Gordon and his music are still going strong. Thanks to everyone involved! No need to respond to this message, just thank you!--Kristin

Kirstin - I think we should do another birthday card this year, so that Char can deliver it and let us know how the roadworks are going in Yonge Street... lol ( please don't miss Char's report on the delivery ).

Char - you have the best taste in Music!!. The first "Canadian" song I ever heard was "Four Strong Winds " which I thought was fantastic. I tried to find out who the singer was, and was ( mistakenly) informed Gorden Lightfoot, so I went out and bought Don Quixote, listened to Christian Island, and have been well and truly hooked on GL ever since.
Keep Smiling Ron..

Catmanron -

That sounds like one of the best results from bad advice I've ever heard!!

Catmanron ... Christian Island is just the
most evocative song IMO ... what a perfect
way to be introduced to The Man! lol

You know SilverHeels, there may be people some where in the world, who when they get on the water in anything from a canoe to a Car Ferry, don't start humming..

"I'm sailing down the summer day
Where the fish and seagulls play
I put my troubles all away
And when the gales comes up I'll fill my cup
With the whiskey of the Highlands"

But I know I'm not one of them, and I guess you are not either !!.

Keep Smiling Ron

" And still I'd like to tell her
that I miss her so
In North Ontario "
Especially Kathy in North Bay !!!!
