Default Any word on a new album?

Has anyone heard mention of Gord putting out another album? I liked Harmony, and want to see if he'll put another couple of albums out now that he's back on his feet.

I have trepidations with this hope, because I noticed he didn't come out west this time on concert. I hope I misread the schedule, but I'm nervous that it means he's running out of energy to tour......and record.

I hope I read the contrary. Especially about another album.

he's said many times over the last several years that there will be no new recordings, he owes no recording companies an album and doesn't want to take the time from family and touring to write and record again.
www.lightfoot.ca has the 2009 tour schedule if you want to check where h'es been this year and where he's planning on heading.

He has said that he may put out an album of live material from the Massey Hall (Toronto) concerts through the years. Throw a few rarities and possibly a previously unreleased song or two on it and it should sell.

That would be a welcome addition to the Lightfoot CD library.

Over the past few years, Gord has passingly refered to watching his money closely. I suspect a big part of that is his upbringing. However putting together a new record would cost a couple hundred thousand dollars at the very least. For various reasons, Gord writes a LOT of checks per month and IMHO fiscal conservation is as much on his mind as his love of performing for people.
Unfortunately, it seems no one has gotten thru to him about the ability to record cheaply and offer a few songs from time to time over the internet, for a fee. It's something he could work on when he wanted during the winter months when he's off the road. But he's gotta do what he's gotta do.

"Gave away" Harmony?????!!

There's no way in the world I'd part with an of my Gordon Lightfoot collection!

As for the question at hand,I'd certain like to see another CD too but I think we'd all have to make a great demand for it. Like at one of his shows ( in each and every town) during thte applause start chanting "New album! New album! New album!"

Could work.

I still don't have all of Gordon's music so I am not impatient for a new album.

I just got "Cold On The Shoulder" a couple of weeks ago...I love that cd so much!
Every song on it is fantastic! He is amazing.

Patti, I will be happy to send it to you I got that and some other music for you
I could listen to that CD all day and never get tired of it.

Yeah, Jesse...someone told me that...maybe you? Every time I listen to it I think of his daughter and how that beautiful song must have made her feel.
What a wonderful gift that was....she had to feel very special to him when she listened to it.

This has probably been the longest Gord has ever gone without releasing a new album, with the exception of the gap between Gord's Gold II and Waiting For You. (I think there was some kind of a boxed set released in 1990, but unless it's new songs or re-recorded versions of original ones, it doesn't really count).
