Oh Dear Oh Dear, further embarressment.
Last Friday when posting I overlooked the fact that we were due to attend Susan's neice's birthday party so once again we had to miss the chat.
Hopefully we'll make it this evening at 9 pm EDT at http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com

Last Friday
7 of us met in the chat room
and were joined for a while by a first time visitor using the nickname acousticman. We never learned who he/she was although the initials mjo were put up at one point so maybe it was the new guitar owner Melissa Joe??
Anyway tonight at 9 pm EDT we'll be gathering again
in what we still refer to as "Rik's Chat Room" at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com

Last Friday I make it that 8 attended the chat session
including Ed safely returned from Ireland
he revealed that he had added a page on his travels to his web site at http://edmullen.net/ireland01.html
Ed nice pics but not all of us are blessed with high speed connections so you really should have utilised the time-honored thumbnail gallery method!!
I also liked your comment about the lack of hard-shoulders.
I well remember a high speed drive along the southern coast road to Cork it must have been turnip-harvest time as the hard shoulder was frequerntly used as a dumping place for huge and dangerous heaps of them
No doubt Ed you have a store of apocryphal anecdotes
my favo(u)rite 2 from that trip are:-
1.Before we even left England a telephoned enquiry to our hosts in Cork on where we should meet them elicited this reply
"on the dual carriageway (divided highway)"! They explained that at that time in all of Eire there were but 2 stretches of such a road theirs and one in Dublin!
2.In Waterford after we had sampled the local brews we asked a friendly barmaid
"Where can we get some good fish and chips?"
She replied I kid you not "Oh to be sure that's a problem
there are some that have good fish but poor chips
and others that have the good chips but poor fish!!"
In fact the very first place we went into had both good fish and good chips (french fries).
I can still taste the Mackerel in batter something one does not usually find in one of the "Great British Takeaways"
Anyway I have digressed
Tonight there should be another chat session at the usual time 9 pm EDT and place http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com

Yet Another Reminder
Attendance at last week's session was 10 including one newcomer
"fawnlily" who having been mistaken for Kim
apparently eventually identified herself as Helen.
This evening there should be another chat at 9PM EDT.That is of course assuming that no silly burgher in either Toronto,Ottawa,Detroit,Cleveland,New York City or Hartford CT
manages to fuse the lights again. The power outage affected us here last night
for all of about 2 minutes but then we do reside about a mile from the very spot where Thomas Edison in the 1880s built the world's first municipal electricity generating plant
and our town in January 1883 became the first in the United States to be wired for electricity. Also one of our local churches apparently still uses the original
"lightolier" that made it the first church in the United States to be lit by electricity. A feature that must have been very enlightening for the congregation
There's not many people know that as Michael Caine would say
So tonight the venue is http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com

paddle his own canoe (hopefully by then painted canary yellow??)) all the way to the sea 3500 miles solo next year retracing
Lewis & Clark during the bicentennial of that expedition.
for newsgroupers this is the subject of a corfid forum topic:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001665.html
and see his web site at:- http://www.lewisandclark-2004.com
Tonight we shall meet again at the usual time 9pm EDT and place:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com

Would you believe it's Friday again. A very nice attendance of ten came into last Friday's chat session.
Tonight same time 9PM EDT and place http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com
At least one person last week reported a problem getting to the Newsgroup via my shorturl link:- http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com
All very strange because that short url has never failed to work for me
If that does not work go to http://www.google.com. click on the middle item "groups" then simply enter lightfoot in the search box.
a few sample newsgroup postings are shown but at the top under"related groups" it should show alt.music.lightfoot. click on that link and bingo!!
Cheers
John Fowles
