I don't mean to state the obvious here, but I suspect that parts of the songs to which the lawsuit refers are as follows:
"I decided long ago
Never to walk in anyone's shadow.
If I fail, if I succeed,
At least I'll live as I believe."
"I never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say
That I just don't get it.
I don't know where we went wrong,
But the feeling's gone,
And I just can't get it . . ."
With slight metric changes for syllabication, it's pretty much note for note. I'm curious as to how the case was ruled. It probably depended upon whether the segment in question was sufficiently long.
