Default Ho Chi Minh City

My Daughter on Holidays in Vietnam, has informed me that the Breakfast Cafe in her two star Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City was playing Lightfoot Songs as background music this morning, could this be a left over LP from the 70's or maybe Gord has a whole new fan base in Vietnam.

Keep Smiling
Ron.

OK Ron nice to see you posting . Where have you been??
I don't think that Gord ever played in 'Nam, but it reminds me to pass on an anecdote from Massey 2009
I remembered when thanking him on the Friday after the concert for playing my two favourite live songs
"Restless" and "Let It Ride" to ask if when he sang "Here’s to the girls of London And the ones from Montreal"
to ask if the London he had in mind was London UK or London Ontario,
He replied defensively and pensively*
"Well I had girlfriends in London you know"
then continued that he used Rangoon as it suited the rhyming
I guess Burma is getting close to Vietnam
as is Shanghai of course
*Pensively , definitely because on Saturday he came up to me and said
"56 Gloucester Road Fourth floor walkup that's where I lived in London"
I have made a screenshot from Google Maps Streetview of that address and have attached it below

I think you are correct Ron I have met an ex US Navy Fat Albert (C130) pilot who became a Lightfoot fan whilst playing the IYCRMM LP in Viet Nam. No doubt his was not the only copy to be "captured" by the Viet Cong!!

Another *anecdote* from 2009 Massey via Gord:

Alan Thicke was in Ho Chi Minh City instead of Toronto, as he was hosting

. . . get ready

The *Mrs* Viet Nam Pageant

Did your daughter hear of that event?

Thanks Big 'jj' for the Double-Video . . . each equally unintelligible

First night at Massey Hall, when Gordon [with a sly chuckle] told me
of Alan's *Mrs Vietnam* gig, I thought he was jesting. Nope!

Last night at Massey, Gordon asked me to find out how it went.
Now I know . . . I think

Alan's hosted many a pageant since 'Growing Pains' finished it's run,
so I thought better about any 'jest' The 'profile' may be lower, but
the 'returns' are high.

He'd had hoped to squeeze in one show at Massey, but travel plans
wouldn't allow. Given the two guy's long-standing friendship, I figure
the 'sly chuckling' was shared.

Thanks Big again 'jj' - the Dbl-Vid treat was Beyond Belief, I do believe

Our man is truly international.

Bless that memory of his. I've only lived in a few places in my mumblety-mumblety years (fewer than Gord's) but I'd be hard pressed to give you an exact address on a couple of them. I can't even remember the street number of my paternal grandparents' home and they lived there for a half century or better - the house I remember, just not the number. Oh well.
