Default 41degC (106degF) at Australian Open tennis

The Australian Open tennis is in Melbourne Jan14-27. It must be tough on the players, especially when they keep the roof open on days like today. It still hasn't had an Australian winner since Mark Edmondson in 1976 and Christine O'Neill in 1978. Our last hope in the women's singles, Samantha Stosur, admitted she choked in the 2nd round after leading the final set 5-2 with 2 service breaks. (Serena Williams is the short-priced favourite, ahead of Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova.) In the men's singles, our cocky 20-year-old Bernard Tomic challenges Roger Federer in the 3rd round. (Novak Djokovic is the favourite, ahead of Andy Murray and others.) The hot, dry, windy weather has seen devastating bushfires here in Victoria and in other states, including New South Wales and Tasmania.

A positively balmy 46.5 C (115.7 F ) recorded as can be verified via the weather bureaus' website www.bom.gov.au , here in western Sydney half an hour ago.
I think I will try to ensure my train of choice is air conditioned on the way home from work....
Some tough choices to make ....Let me think : go for a jog or go to the pub and drink copious quantities of beer....V hard choice.

I watched some of the tennis and couldn't believe they can play in that heat...
right now in TO it is -10C (14F) and feeling like -16C (3F) with the wind chill.
I will be staying inside.
gawd I hate the cold!

It was -26F here in northern Maine last night. It has now warmed up to a balmy 2F.
