Probably would have been better to list any songs that are not favorites. That, my friends, would be a very short list. It would be impossible for me to have only one favorite GL song.

DMD3,when I say,"You don't know me very well,do you". That's a classic line from a Bugs Bunny cartoon, meaning that the person he's talking to doesn't know what he's capable of.
In other words, you said I could never find that kind of time to make that list. The fact is I would need a good amount of time but I'm talking a day, maybe two. Not a week or a month! I'm very capable of that,in fact,if I hadn't had to work and have a social life (thank goodness I do!) I could've done my tapes in about 6 or 7 days.
As for a list of non-fav's,I could make no such list anymore. I have some measure of "like" for each of his songs now. Well, been me,later!

Borderstone,gonna post some lines tonight!:D

I had every vinal album recorded and then replace everything with CD's. Now I've ripped every CD to MP3. GL's songs are perfect for long drives thru the night. Just crank it up and sing along. After all the years and miles, I could only get my list down to 6. Sorry!
1) If you could read my mind
2) Second cup of coffee
3) The house you live in
4) Rainy day people
5) A lesson in love
6) A painter passing thru
Sorry, but he's just go too many great songs.

My favourite Lightfoot song is "Beautiful"
because it's a timeless ballad and we listened to it numerous times on a mid 70's camping trip.

It's so rare in this day and age to find a man who can quote from the classics.

For me, its a toss up! I am a huge GL fan.
A huge music fan in general, and there are 2
GL songs that always strike up emotion in me.
"Minstrell of the dawn". What a beautiful
song. I wonder if he refers to himself
at times in this song. Secondly,
"Wherefore and the why". It is for
completely different reasons I love
this song. It could very well be the most
uplifting piece of music I have ever heard.
Love the website, thoughts and prayers
with Gordon.Peace.

. . . excuse me while I rip my guts out and jump up and down on them and tear my heart from my chest. I desperately hope there is no man out there who feels like that about me.
Excuse me while I make a few phone calls just to be sure.

Impossible to pick one, but one song that seems to get overlooked is Black Day in July. When you know what it's about I think it is really a great piece of songwriting

My favorite song is 'Romance' It reminds me of a time when I had given up on love. And then I found the most beautiful man that gave me the most beautiful life. My sweet husband made me believe in love. It always makes me cry. Gordon just seems to be able to say what people feel. I just love his songs. Linda

While in college in the late 70's, I heard "Spanish Moss" while flipping though radio stations late one night in my dorm room. Such a peaceful diversion from all the rock I was listening to. Bough "Summertime Dream" the next day and have been a GL fan since. Still ranks as one of my favorites.
