Must have been a great experience to visit Rosyln. I have always wanted to visit it but have never had the opportunity to get up to the northwest. I have all the episodes taped twice. One set I taped myself and the other I bought. What started off as a filler for a few weeks, turned out to be one of the best written shows that I can think of. They developed the characters so well and also the town of Cicely that it made you feel like it really existed.

I never watched the show until the re-runs were airing on A&E back in late 1998. It was a rough winter in more ways than one and those re-runs transported me to another place during the 1 hour episodes. Kinda like Lightfoot's music does. It was then that I got hooked on the show. And I am not a TV watcher usually.

Watchman, I just gain more and more respect for you over time. I thought I was the only Northern Exposure fan left. I just told a coworker today that if he was taller, had more hair, had a better voice and was better looking he would be the spitting image of Chris in the morning-he had no clue!

You are definitely not the only Northern Exposure fan left!!! I am a fan of that show...I really miss it! It always reminded me of life up north...you know...back in the North woods of WI, where my heart still is!!!!

I too started watching when it came on A&E and I taped them, my favorite was the fling, when Chris' buddy died and he didn't know what to do with him. I don't remember what Ruth Ann's real name was but she died a few months ago. I didn't realize the tapes were available, I'll have to check that out.
I would love to visit Roslyn, maybe that will be my vacation next summer. Are these "sets" or real buildings? Oma it does remind me a bit about Finland (minnesota) too.

Peg Phillips was her name and she died in Nov. '02 from lung disease. The only tapes that are available are from the first season. Even those are getting hard to find. I taped them all and the set that I bought, someone else taped. The majority of the shots are from the real buildings, but they did build different sound stages for different shots. There are some good books out there about the show that really go into detail how they did things.

NO!!! The call letters were KBHR??? Oh dear. Those are the call letters of the local radio station here - KBHR - K-Bear - Big Bear - http://www.kbhr933.com/

Suddenly a whole lot of things make sense about this town.

Deb,

There are lots of us "Northern Exposure" fans still around! Back when the show first aired, my wife, daughter, and I drove a thousand miles to visit the town of Roslyn, WA, where the show was filmed. I got to walk through Ruth Ann's General Store and even had a beer at The Brick! Also visited the KBHR radio station ("The Voice of the Last Frontier") but my girls were disappointed -- Chris was nowhere to be found!
