He's got no butt anymore! His rms and back are still lookin good tho! Oh, sorry Florian - I got carried away! Bad girl! The lusty groupie side escaped for a moment - LOL Hey I do have some memories after all - hahaha.

I love you Georgia peaches Mary Ann - my sis lived in Atlanta and we went down one summer - lord could it get any steamier! The Georgia peaches in her neighborhood were a hoot and a half - we had a ball!
The chocolate fondue and champagne is a tradition in this house for years and I am so glad that Gord could join us tht New Years Eve! He was very quiet though......

Hey Everyone,

I've been out of the loop for awhile but this topic keeps coming up and the discussion is always so very interesting..at least to me. Val, you say the Gord changed the line to "The feelings that we lack.." Mmm...I feel like that changes the whole sub-text of the song. Again at least for me. Tho I must admit his daughter is correct in asking that question and the change is an obvious move to correct the error. As I've said before and will continue to do, I'll perform his music as written, never any changes.

There is an article in the Toronto paper, referenced elsewhere on the site here that says "Gord is still as hot today as he ever was." Politically correct or not, to me that means something.

Allow the artist to stand as he was in context and try to understand that he did not have the benefit of our experience.

Or else let's all condemn George Washington. He owned slaves! He had no right to live. How could he have done that! And while we're at it, why didn't he use an automobile to get around instead of a horse--what a fool!

If you've read any of the other posts and this one too,you'd know it's-"For Lovin' Me" which in fact you commented on how you didn't like it because Gord sounds "mean". They're also talking about "I'm Not Sayin" and it has never been mentioned but the song,"You'll Still Be Needing Me" where he pretty much says if he leaves her she'll be lost without him. There's also Cotton Jenny with it's line about the "hot sickly south." Which people have misconstrued as a slam against the southern states. To put it simply DMD3,any song that's not politically correct by today's standards. Of course,in reality,if you compare Gord's lyrics to a lot of the artists of the past,say,11 years,he's clean as a whistle! PG-13 in fact,for a few everyday cuss words that most people use. Been me,later!

Changing song lyrics doesn't qualify as censorship and TALKING about changing song lyrics certainly does not qualify. Artists who cover other writers work frequently change, rearrange or rewrite lyrics. That isn't censorship, that is a singer collaborating with a songwriter after the fact.

Censorship is denying the existence of a particular work of art or opinion. No one here is going around burning Lightfoot CD's because we want lyrics rewritten. We're just talking. What if? What would you do differently?

Censorship is a big heavy word that I don't believe has anything to do with the conversations we have here about lyrics or music.
