Good Heavens. I will take the liberty, without permission, to answer in a definitive fashion on behalf of jj.........

Q116 - All I'm After

"don't want no MORE NEON lights"

Q118 - It's Worth Believin'

"I've got a funny feeling that IT'S ME".

All credit should go to jj. The rules for answering may be a little 'over his head.'

OK guys - short and sweet to get caught up. I've been in Denver most of the day on medical issues, and so I know you've been waiting again today. We've been keepin' up fine, something thats not been a probem, until about Labour day...and several days thereafter, and yesterday -my medical, today -my medical - sorry folks lets address status on the Q's right away. Then, a few words of keepin our eye on the ball of FUN.. I'm gonna skip responding to the bait bu**sh**, and at least the regulars will have fun, and add Char to the new players. John, I DO hope you chose to play and have fun, apology excepted most 'sumptuously' I think was the word you used - OK no sweat amigo.
John, also all the regulars know when I'm kidding - you used to, but thats OK, - the secret sauce in Big Macs, stemming !!! - from the Dark Matter fun thing ; fun Geneva; its all-too-familiar to the folks who play regular - we have mini Western shoot-outs with responses and such, and question/clue preludes here and there , and such non-sense - all in fun and no meant to confuse anyone or hurt there feelings.

I'm sure sorry you thought I actually went to Geneva , and Dark Matter wound up in Big Macs....but...lol.... I was only kidding.... lol - I'm sure you knew that.. lol

We are adjusting to new players who are non-familiar with the status quo and the little mini-culture of humour in here , too, so having said a quick word about that to clarify, hopefully all new players will have the same kind of fun we've been having, and everyone will have more fun.

But, I won't even touch the erroneous subject of parallel universes/threads..... lets just play eh ?

Q115....don't know....Answered correctly by Ron IYCRMM

Q116....more neon....Answered newly in my absence correctly by jj,
"All I'm After" as in:
All I'm after is the sun and the summer nights
By the seashore, don't want no more neon lights - gl

Q117....drive all.... Answered correcty as awarded by Char to Ron, who wisely kick-started things while I was out - as in out cold - seizure....lol....
with:Never Say Trust Me
as in:
"I can DRIVE ALL night".

Q118....it's me , answered with humour by jj, but correctly alluded to, aided by Ron's by-the-book assistance : 'It's Worth Believin'As in:
But I've got a funny feeling that it's me
It's worth believing

Q119 Down around....Answered Correctly by Jesse Joe , with Bend in the water, as in :

Come on Pearl, come on Kitty, if you feel inclined
Down around the bend in the water, bring your fishing line

Q120 And to be.... Answered correctly by Char, with SFAWN !
as in:
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
And to be once again with with you - gl

I was going for a different song with "a dream" (which I still can't recall) when Clouds of Lonliness came to mind. There is another one, I just know it

we should start a "lightfoot lyrics death-challenge" thread, to see how many different answers we can come up with for the lyric clue

Sounds intriguing. I'm in.......but the rules must be very, very, VERY specific. Otherwise, the death toll could wipe out Corfid.

Hey guys - I tried to answer everyone's posts, and encountered some necessary explanatory notes for new or infrequent players, so the response to ALL of your posts for Q's 121 - 126 are in two parts, first, this talkety-talk part, then second, and the post after this, are the specific clue and responses winnings, Correct Answers, a few notes where necessary etc.

This post contains a thought on a new rule if you don't mind the read thru this one, before the meat-n-potatoes in the next post. The sum total in Characters of the whole shebang in one file exceeded 10,000 characters, so here is the "first half" lol: Forgive the duplicitousness of the: Hey guys et al,
I'm too tired to edit more....You guys really nailed em....Ron I like your thought....Joveski your idea too, and welcome Oh, Linda ! Part 1:

WOW, you guys nailed this 6 ( I had a feeling we might have a few new players, so I TRIED to turn down difficuly a little, to not drive away new players; turns out it was not even CLOSE to neccesary ..lol Holy etymolgy, Batman !

You guys got them all in what is the 2nd-fastest time, I think..... though I must be very, very, very sure, or ....I could........ be wrong !

In chronological order, as timed by the cesium-A "atomic clock" in Boulder, Colorado, (but broadcast from Fort Collins by the National Bureau of Std's ) a.k.a. The People's Republic of Boulder, Colorado, where Birk's, organic foods, vegans (not just vegetarian vegans, but "veegans" [phonetically spelled here], but Vegans, from the star system Vega, who are the only ones who can afford to buy a house in Boulder, and run breeder reactors to fuel their "green" houses) , and all the above are as "commonplace there as those little , uhm, things on the end of your shoelaces are...there's a NAME for those..."... - steve looks to stage right, at the band, ala Johnny Carson, for an affirmation from the band-leader on the name of those little things on your shoelaces, who shrugs 'I don't know', and cues the drummer for a rim-shot - buh-da-bummp...for lack of something constructive....

Well we have a shut-out - players correct on 7 ! , "wrong" guesses zero...( 6correct songs as I "heard them in my head" PLUS another correct and workable song making 2 correct songs for ONE clue.

I think we need a democratic meeting of the minds on this. We've been sort of wingin' it on this. Notes below outline how we've done it in the first 1/4 or so of the game, and a note on how we've done it the latter 3/4 or so of gaming. I feel no need for having to many rules, but with the goal of having fun, we don't want anyone feeling cheated. I call for a Lightfoot Lyrics Game Summit vote-by-post-proxy establish a majority rule, cause I don't want anyone to feel cheated. So, what do you guys say to voting done on a post-by-poster basis , on who you think should "win" a given clue: "A", "B",or "C" ?, WHERE:

A: is a vote to say BOTH people win it, BOTH songs that WORK, so the facts of the lyrics are the objective and not subjective "no question about it" rule - letting Wayne's World, the "Lightfoot! site" be my question verifier as usual. Regardless of who got one that WORKS first. A.K.A a vote for "everyone with a song that WORKS CO-WINS the clue, as NOTED below. The downside on this has not happened, but there could I suppose be a rush of several jokers (all players thus far excepted) posting the right song AFTER they see someone post it first. This has NOT been a problem in this friendly game. As long as it stays friendly, we won't have that problem.

B: is a vote to say FIRST person to get the song I'd ENVISIONED wins the clue, but that presumes that no one questions the SUBJECTIVE case as I call it, which you've all been gracious enough to do so far, but I don't expect you to, especially when we run that by new players, or ones that don't "know" me...

C: is a vote for FIRST song that WORKS WINS the clue, whether I'd envisioned that one or not is the case. THIS HAS BEEN the informal rule for the latter 3/4 of our gaming so far I've been using.

NOTE: We were originally using the 'everone with a song that works CO-WINS the clue' for awhile in the first 1/4 or so of gaming.

NOTE: Then we shifted to "FIRST SONG that WORKS WINS" for the latter 3/4 or so of the game

I will abstain from voting in the interest of avoiding personal bias in the game.
I don't think its a big deal at all currently. The question just came up in the form of "hey, I thought the ambiguous case was going to be avoided" - which is a fair question, its just not practical to rule out ambiguity now that we are down to 'expert'-level ONE and TWO word clues..... that fit a couple songs frequently. So, I just want everyone to feel its fair....it came up....no biggee.
Also - if someone reads an inconsistency, or certain illogical error on my part above, speak up ! My falleth go before my Pride !! lol

I'll use that one 'one more time', this time, but I'll be looking for "Summit Meeting votes posts" lol

whats YOUR vote ?

Mass response Q's 121-126; part II Meat-n-Potatoes Part

ONWARD TO IMMEDIATELY GERMANE STUFF: i.e. THE GAME !

In chronological as posted order:

Q125....in love.... Char ANSWERS CORRECTLY posting a song that WORKS, however not the song I'd imagined,no matter by the way we've been playing, she takes it- CONGRATULATIONS Char !
on 'A Lesson in Love' as shown below:

We will let it all hang out, go hand in glove
Life was meant to live and learn, a lesson in love, a lesson in love ~ gl

Q121....my life....Oh, Linda ANSWERS CORRECTLY with a qualifying song, ambiguous case with her choice that WORKS: 'Anything For Love'
CONGRATULATIONS Oh,Linda, as shown below: however, note in this case as a case-in-point
of a few things that are helpful to know in the game:

This one is an interesting case that is illustrative of the 'dot rule', certain parts of the song qualify, others don't, look back in the the thread to the dots rule, and really all that means here is that the lyrics CLUE can't be at the END of a verse, or the BEGINNING, given that there are dots on both sides of the clue, but as you pointed out, the clue appears several places, here is a place that qualifies just fine ! These funny dot rules exist ONLY to identify, as help to you, when a clue word(s) are at the beginning, mid, or end-of-verse...

Shortened clue rules ( excepting cases of proper nouns)
Clue.... no dots at beginning, first letter is in CAPS, so that means the clue word(s) are found at the beginning of the song ( the song in my mind at the time of clue creating by me). *You* might find it elsewhere, and in another song. BTW - you DID . You'll see when I show Joveski's answer ! ....clue no dots at end, means the clue word(s) are at the end of a verse.

....clue.... means the clue word(s) is mid-verse, thats all !

Cause in my life, here in my mind in it now shines
A guiding light, never again will I lose my way
~gl
A winning patch of lyrics as per Wayne's World; LIGHTFOOT !
BTW - thanks for playing Oh,Linda !

Q126.... a dream.... Oh Linda ANSWERS CORRECTLY
CONGRATULATIONS Oh,Linda
with:
'Clouds of Lonelineness'
lyrics patch:

You had a dream, so they had one too
You turned away, they were untrue ~gl

Q121....my life.... ambiguous case....the one I had in mind.....Joveski !so even though Oh,Linda got a working song first, you should be noted for a qualifying song and a CORRECT ANSWER,
Lyrics patch:
I spent most of my life outside in the driving rain
I was in some one-horse town just waiting for a plane to take me back ~gl
Great minds think alike !Joveski

Q123....was daylight....Joveski nails it with a CORRECT ANSWER ! as in:
'Stone Cold Sober'
Lyrics Patch:
I was stone cold sober, it was daylight in October
When you reached across the table, put your hand upon my shoulder ~gl

Q124 And sometimes.... Joveski nails a third ! With a correct answer AGAIN !
from: 'That Same Old Obsession'
Lyrics patch:
I think of my lost love from over the sea
And sometimes I've wondered, if she thinks of me

Trifecta Joveski !
CONGRATULATIONS X 3 Joveski ! HS !

BTW Joveski - the "Death Challenge" sounds fun ! I'm IN

Ron ROFLMAO I hear ya lol
Quote:
Sounds intriguing. I'm in.......but the rules must be very, very, VERY specific. Otherwise, the death toll could wipe out Corfid.

ALL THAT REMAINS IN THIS 6 IS Q122....yesterday

the rules and irregulations are definitely beyond me...thought instead of answering in the form of a question, I'd answer in the form of a clue...

btw, for Q122, first thing that came to mind was APPT - "Yesterday is gone..." but I believe that both Jenney's and my own responses are a violation of rule 122.4 (ie. the dot dot dit dit dot dot rule)

Char - lol aglets huh? OK ....thanks !

Jenney - good try with Mountains and Marianne, but with the dot rule, which all joking aside the regulars Do understand....lol Q122....yesterday - means that the word "yesterday" HAS to be at the END of the verse, because off the dots coming BEFORE the word, and none after (I've EDITED THIS COMMENT tueday evening, because I caught a typo in my clue and dots format I'd shown you here a few lines above, this explanation NOW READS CORRECTLY a few lines above), I had typo'd it incorrectly no doubt to your confusion and others - my apologies.... - I HAD SHOWN the dots in my explanation as coming AFTER the word when I posted this originally, meaning 'yesterday' would be by dot indication at the beginning, yet as the clue was originally show in my list of 6 Q's, and now corrected it in this thread...it should, as does read CORRECTED as a few lines up as (clue) Q122....yesterday - indicating it the word(s) must be at the END of the verse line, NOT incorrectly by me this WAS WRONG - (fFORMER WRONG CASE AS PRE-EDITED TONIGHT)- Q122 Yesterday.... (WRONG) - indicated by dot convention earlier in this post only the incorrect clue format, suggesting the word INCORRECTLY BEFORE EDITING THIS POST:
WRONG - AS IT DID READ IN THIS POST :Yesterday...., noting the caps as well, HAVING SAID THIS INCORRECTLY BY DOTS AND WORD CLUE orientationis at the beginning of the verse line, -WRONG - which HAS BEEN CORRECTED above, one more time as I know this seems cryptic, but its really not, the CORRECT DOT AND CLUE orientation, again, (even though I realize the song has been posted as a winning answer farther down in this page, but here in this post, for clariification to you ( I hope lol) is CORRECTED IN THIS POST NOW TO READ:
- Q122....yesterday , IS THE CORRECT dot and clue convention, as re-typed/edited above in this post as it should be - my dialogue on what it should be was right, but I had typed the clue word and dots wrong, OK -so one final statement of correct format , consistent and CORRECT with the rules is THIS CORRECTED VERSION AS ABOVE, redundacy lest there be any mis-understanding -CORRECTED CLUE: -
- Q122....yesterday ,*CORRECT* note the word is at the END of the dots and hence at the end of the verse. I hope that helps. Sorry again Jenny, and anyone else that read it closely. I know it is solved below in the thread lol...

jj - I made sure you got special recognition for the trifecta - AND getting the ambiguous case RON aided and abetted on lol from you - as THE SONG I had in mind.... I re-wrote a mini-list of dot notes... your joking and not really unclear on 'em are ya ? I can see how a person would be - I''ve written 'em out like 3 different formats of HOW I described them LOL - you are ACIN the game, man !

Everybody on Q122 think "spiritual essence" - a wish Gord has for the world.... circa 1973 - 1974......

The game is back in black --- can't wait to do Q's 127 - 132 !

LOL EVERYBODY -sorry for my error in explanation to Jenney in post several posts above - I've edited a few minutes ago;a long explanation, but I wanted TO BE SURE the WRONG VERSUS RIGHT clue convention was understood - I'd typo'd the response to Jenney above, but its now correct... once in awhile I get a clue orientation with dots typed wrong maybe at just one post in the process of answering attempts posts, here and there..

I hoped this helps anyone who reads the edited version. If you have a good feel - skip it, (the edited and corrected note to Jenney's shot on Q122 with 'Mtns and Marianne') its a long and redundant explanation, lest there be ANY misunderstanding by new players. I see the new players are starting to get the truly straightforward dots and clue convention after you play a few times.... no one ever said the game intrinsically is easy - or it woud not be a challenge for lyrics buffs.... but you guys don't need clue and dot errors typo'd be me lol...

By reading your subsequent posts it seems we're close to getting smoothly back on track after the possible cataclysm lol - good video Jesse Joe - and I am sorry the game seems difficult Jesse - we've been rolling smoothly along until, the event... but I'll not dwell or mention specifics on that..... if ANYONE needs a SHORT rule set again on the dots..quite simple... dots before, dots after, or both, the 3 cases just help you know where in the verse the clue word(s) is/are. It gets easier after you play awhile.

Ron lol I agree no need for another rule, except maybe are there any takers on the: who should win it when there are multiple correct entries, often of different songs ? If no one posts a vote on this, I'll continue with FIRST WORKABLE SONG PER THE CLUE takes it.
Works for me.... AS RON SAID:
Quote:
Are you looking for another rule ? I propose the "comma rule". Just a thought (but I really don't think we should go there).
lol agreed.

Char - I am glad you're getting it so well.....but we've discussed it more.... anyone feel free to PM me if any attempt at clarification of 'dots and clue' rules has only muddied waters for you lol..... I'm happy to help.... it really is fun and has been, and is again. just takes playing awhile ,the regulars previously and currently have astounded me at what they get from ONE WORD at times.......newer players easing into place -

Jesse Joe hang in there.... its just now at a harder level of clues, intrinsically - at just one or two words....than when we started...with 3 -4 words early on....

Joveski -
