Looks like Rick is using a different bass (Fender Precision?). Still hasn't gotten rid of that awful ponytail though LOL

Re: Two Massey Hall 2011 Videos
imo, terry was most muchly missed during IMF
nice quality sound in the vids...the experienced guy in front of me was cuffing the viewfinder of his camera and in video-mode throughout the majority of the evening....
meanwhile, the guy beside me accidentally bumped "my" armrest as he reached into his coat... he'd FINALLY got up the nerve to take a few non-flash photos of 'the man' toward the very end of the 2nd set
oops, his timing sucked: immediately he was approached by a gal usher and turned several shades of red with people all around him frowning and "shhh-ing" as they checked out the big bust
"sir, if that happens again we will be taking away your camera"...poor dude nodded repetitively while looking pretty stunned...i hope his one pic turned out
once the disruption was over, the guy in front resumed filming...wearing a grin

Re: Two Massey Hall 2011 Videos
An obvious professional film crew show up in the video towards the end. Interesting...

On Thurs.May 26 a pro video crew with 7 cameras recorded the concert for future use-possibly a documentary in the works.

oh i guess no one has mentioned that stuff yet in a review...one of our insiders might have a scoop on what that was all about...i'm guessing there were about half a dozen cameras, 3 roaming and 3 lock off shots from various perches
i saw more of one videographers butt, than i did of Carter's various solos, agh

I must say, he was sounding great on these! His voice is much stronger than when I heard him in November.

Re: Two Massey Hall 2011 Videos
Could be footage for a doc, possibly collaboration with CBC...7 HD cameras. First accounts I heard was that the production crew was very pleased with the footage they got that night. If it works out and The Man likes it we should be seeing some of it..Or it becomes a very pricey home movie.

Re: Two Massey Hall 2011 Videos
i noticed those cameras all night while i was stuck up in the gallery! i asked a guy working in the galleries bar what they were filming for, and he said it was probably for a DVD. Wished they had filmed friday's show. better performance and setlist, i think. Gord didn't even do "Early Morning Rain" the first 2 nights as i recall, not that i cared! By the way, it was nice to meet you saturday charlene, think i was a bit tanked! don't know if it showed!!

I would not hold your breath because the latter is more likely I think.
First reaction when the Man was quizzed right after the concert was not very propitious."There were mistakes" or words to that effect. So there will almost certainly be another would be prized addition to the shelf stock that already includes a nearly perfect Massey 1974 (the audience recorded bootleg is pretty fair with no obvious problem caused by a broken fingernail
that mars it for me at least) and no doubt there are many worthwhile outtakes lying around not to mention a large number of unused "demo" recordings from 2002 not deemed good enough for the far less than full capacity collection on the 2004 issued Harmony CD.
that's my 2/100th of a loonie's worth anyway.

All that said, it looks like Rick lost some weight. As far as I could tell, Rick looked pretty good, but I wasn't there in person. For those of you who were at Massey, did you notice the same thing?

Nice post and pic. If this were a Facebook post, I'd be all over the "Like" button. :-)

Hey guys,
I'm the fall guy for "Char's alcohol problem."
It's sort of become a tradition for me to give Char a bottle of her fav Merlot as "an honorarium" for the work and kindness she devotes to the Massey project.
When I gave it to her at the dinner I asked her if she had a place for it and that place, as it turned out was right up front in her hand. It's all too cool!
The pic is fit perfect!
RJ.

Re: Two Massey Hall 2011 Videos
I got THREE bottles of wine that night! Jennifer (niffer) got me some cherry wine and Deb (brink) and Richard got me some CHARdonnay! woo-hoo...
LOVE it!
but not necessary at all..
I stored it in the cloak room with Jenney's coat while the concert was on. Then I walked around Toronto after the concert at midnight with them.
My personal photographer Lisa took that picture..

I was hoping there would be a closeup of Rick's bass - there seems to be certain modifications to this Fender -notably the addition of the bridge pickup and a few extra pods- This bridge pickup is similar to the one on the Red Yamaha- and looks very much like the big block double pole pickups that Leo Fender introduced on his Music Man - Stingray bass- Looking back to posts circa 2005- I believe Jenney posted comments by Rick stating he had used a very early Stingray bass but it did not stand the test of time-maybe the pickup is the last man standing!
Also, that great bass sound that is so consistent with the LIghtfoot band is do to the player himself and perhaps the use of Flatwound strings. Guess I'll have to wait till I get to meet Rick and the rest of the band to get a concrete answer.
