Can't wait, it's been over a year since my last concert. John, if you see us in the front row, come on down to say hello! BTW, we were the other ones backstage at Mohegan Sun.

Jenney

Just to avoid any confusion here the John that Jenney was referring to is the "other" John (the one in Connecticut)
Funnily enough one of my maternal grandmother's brothers was also a John and spent about 40 years in Rockville CT (near Vernon) as a stonemason and Mason. I still have distant cousins in the area.
we were also at Mohegan Sun back in 2005 thanks to the wonderful Barry Harvey and will be with Jenney this evening

Thank you Jenny, I do remember, and glad you all are making the concert. I'm back about 8 rows, I had the option of Pit seats but declined them as I have never been to the Palace theater. If I don't get to talk with you, here's to a good show again.

Hi again, it was nice meeting you again after a couple years. Glad you got to go backstage again. I didn't even think I was going to meet up with any of the guys, but I seen Rick earlier and again after the show, and he said he felt bad that I should have gotten a backstage pass from him, but no problem. Met his new manager and seems like a nice guy. I got to talk to Gordon a bit, and Rick some more, and took a few pictures which aren't so good, but I have to go to work soon, so later when I get back I will try to put them on. Funny thing on this whole episode, I was offered tickets to the pits and I said no as I thought they would be breakneck passes, but when I seen it after I got there, they were actually front row. Duh. I ended up on the end of the 8th row which was fine anyway. My one complaint with the concert was the lack of volume. The guy running the board should have jacked it up some more, as it was too low, I could talk to the person next to me with no problem during a song, and that was only in the 8th row, the people out back had to be suffering to hear him. And ok, a tidbit from Gordon, he is going to see the Jonas Brothers soon. Yep he loves them... Naw, his daughter does, and he is taking her. So everyone, book a Jonas Brothers concert so you can see Gordon.

Hey Pam, sounds like you had a GREAT time! Love the pictures too - glad you were able to get backstage passes.

Gordon was doing the "Hair Flip" thing in Toledo too.....he announced that he was doing it to clear his stuffy head. LOL

John, we'll all be waiting for you to post your pictures!

Great pictures! Glad you had such a great time. Gord was wearing the same sweater (with a different shirt underneath) after the Glenside show.

Nice pics and story about your night. I can just picture him doing that hair flip...{lol} In the 70's he would have not needed to do that with all those curls he had then.

Gordon and the band were great! Very, very nice performance . Gordon talked very little and the 'usual' and we all chuckled and laughed. The coolest thing (my friend and I went nutz lol) and girls, you're gonna love this. He bent over and did a "hair flip" lol! It was so funny and then he came back up to the mic with a full, fluffy head of hair hehe. wooohOOO Gordie

I tried taking photos 1/2 way through the 1st set and an usher caught me . I am soooo not sneaky . I wasn't using a flash, but the glow from the camera screen must have shown. Best seat I ever had and no photos to show for it . At intermission, the same usher stopped me, reprimanded me again about taking photos and threatened to through both my friend and I out if I did it again. Somebody should tell her that these things can be said nicely without using hard core threats! I'm 46 years old and threatening to throw me out?

Had the best time with my friend and reminiscing and joking around. She loved the concert and wants to go again . The show went by wayyyy to fast and I won't be going to another until Sept. Well, unless Bush happens to give me some more economic stimulus!
Thanks for sharing your experiences (lucky the ones in the pictures with Gord and the guys). Can't wait for Cerritos!

I wonder why he is getting a stuffy head. Might be just the common air pollution in the US bugging him. As for the few pictures I have, I guess on this site I have to load them to another site first, then link to here. I will try to get to it today. I hate when you have to do it that way, it is time consuming. Some sites have it where you just click on a link and insert your pictures off your computer, without another site being involved, which is quick and easy.

Pam, which one are you in the photos? Give me a face to put with your comments! Loved your story, the hair flip/snort thing cracks me up.

Hi the "other" John.It was good to meet you on Tuesday,
I believe the "stuffy" problem was in fact merely a case of blocked ear(s)
Yes it is a little time consuming to show pictures here. There are in fact two main methods for displaying a picture.

as you correctly sussed out in order to include a picture within your text or full sized you can only show a picture that is
already on the internet somewhere.Firstly find its address (Uniform Resource Locator or URL) by right clicking on it and selecting "properties" on the right click menu
the address will be shown in the middle of the information screen that will pop up

you simply enclose its URL within a pair of special bulletin board "tags", namely after it, making sure there are no spaces betwen the URL and each tag, and that the URL is valid
For example here is the picture whose properties I used as an example above that I took back in 1999 at Massey on Remembrance Day November 11th (note the poppy)

In that case I used a picture that is already on my own website.
Don't have a website??
three suggestions to overcome that little problem.

  1. Firstly check to see if your Internet Services Provider allows you a (probably limited) amount of free web space as part of your agreement to buy internet access.
  2. use the free services offerred by any free photo hosting site.
    I recommend
which shows you the URL and the bulletin board code complete after uploading, and also has the facility built in to resize your uploaded photo to the user- and bulletin board-friendly maximum of 640 pixels wide
(useful if your magnum opus was taken on a mega pixel camera resulting in a jpg file that is excessively large either in file size (bytes) or dimensions (pixels)
  3. set up your very own free website.
there are literally millions of options for doing that.
I recommend either http://www.ripway.com or its alternative http://www.fileave.com
both of which allow hotlinking of uploaded files such as jpgs or even mp3s (with a generous space of 32MB or 50MB respectively plus a maximum uploadable filesize of 10MB

the other method for displaying a picture is to use the "attachment" feature of these forums whereby a clickable thumbnail will be appended to your message.
Just scroll down to the box below the reply text box and click on "Manage attachments"
this will allow you to browse your own computer for the desired uploadable picture Noting that plain jane jpgs are linited to only 500K)( but a larger one could be embedded in either a Word document (*.doc)or a Portable Document Format (*.pdf) file, which have larger file limits of 1MB and 2MB respectively.
there is also another Bulletin board tag pair
but I have not tried that myself yet, maybe now is the time to experiment??
Attachment
The tag allows you to display an attachment in your post rather than at the bottom. It will only display attachments that belong to the post in which it is utilized.
Usage
Example Usage Attachment 12345
That description does not make an awful lot of sense to me, although I think I understand the intention!!

Oh, thanks, I didn't see that down below. I hope this works. These are about the best of what I took. Sorry if they aren't very good. By the way I thought the line when he changed his boots to sneakers at intermission was nice, He called them 'lightfeet.'

Also, Thanks Sir John for the info on the long way to do it. I had already used Imageshack when I got the email from JJ on doing it on this site with its own image upload, so I used it instead. Much easier than all the linking. Thanks again.
