Bands reunited

I enjoy the TV show on VH-1 about reuniting bands, but when will they reunite a real band?....like Poco, Grand Funk, or even The Guess Who. I don't really care about bands like "Flock of Seagulls", or "Banana-rama".

Poco is on tour as we speak, complete w/ Ritchie Furay (on temp leave from pastoring in Boulder.)

The show in these LA/OC parts was at Cerritos Center - same venue Gord played.

I guess being an 80's teen,it was kinda cool to see those particular 3 hit wonders! :D Although I have to say i was glad to see Men At Work back together for the Olympics in Australia nopt to long ago. (They're a real band in my opinion.

I agree though,I'd really like to see some more 1970's bands go at it one more time. Too many to mention! I like a lot of them but America springs to mind.
Sad to say,some of the coolest bands have lost key members and wont be back. Foghat's lead singer passed away in 2000.

It's funny how when we're younger we take these acts for granted and toss them aside in the name of maturity (which is perfectly natural) then we get into our 30's & 40's and want them back! Radio stations are about the same,they simply stop playing their songs,then they become a "remember when" oldies act!

Just a quick note about America. The two (of the original three) have never stopped touring.

They play smaller venues (often here in SoCal - don't know where they live) but bring a good band and all those good harmonies.

Nothing new in the way of material, but they always do good business on their circuit w/ their hits.

An extremely enjoyable evening - once.

Having spent my teen years in the 70's, of course in my opinion there is no better music. What a great soundtrack to those shining memories! America was good, as was Poco. But the best band *did* reunite...The Eagles. Check out their "Hell Freezes Over" (which is when they originally said they'd be playing together again) DVD and it is obvious that their music and their talent has weathered the years and stood the test of time.

I am happy to stand up and say I still like a Flock of Seagulls , - notwithstanding what one of their brethren did to my lunchtime sandwich when I was in the 5th grade....(some things you don't forget!)



This car copped the same treatment as my sandwich "back in the summer of '69 ",(thanks to Bryan Adams for the inspiration - you know - when his fingers bled )....

I respect your feelings towards "Flock of Seagulls", but I just can't agree with you . Seems one of them has quite an ego for being a "has been".

Bands like Orleans, Atlanta Rythem Section, Bread, etc is what I'd like to see.

p.s.....America makes the rounds here in Michigan too. They seem to play the casino circuit every year.

Bob, every year I go to the KOOL concert (a radio station in Denver puts on a concert - tickets are only about $35.00) Lat year we saw Orleans, Randy Bachman, Leslie Gore (still a great voice) this year was Gary Lewis and the Playboys, The Boxtops (which were great) BJ THomas (who should stop touring - very disappointing and talk about ego), Paul Revere and the Raiders (instead of Mark Lindsey they have Bill Medley's son, Medley of the Rightous Brothers) was a good listen. There are 7 or 8 bands/singers that appear at every show. The Raiders recently put out a second CD that ALL the proceeds go to VietNam Vets. Paul Revere (real name) is nearly 70 now and still crazy after all these years.
I saw America a couple years ago with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - now just the Dirt Band - in Vail both bands wee great except the boys from the Dirt Band were a little hung over. They had made it back to their old stomping grounds and partied harty. One of the Jimmies still lives in Aspen. Was a great show none the less.
Sorry to offend Steve but Granny Brink is too old to know bananarama and the flock except for the hair on flock who could miss that. lol

I can't believe i couldn't think of "Bread"! How embarrasing!

Now I recall,I'd love to actually be able to see Gerry Rafferty "live". I've only seen his video for,"Baker Street" and that was back in '83!

Even though they're just a vocal group,I'd actually pay money to see The Sylvers sing,"Boogie Fever" & "Hot Line. :D (Not to sure about hit #3,"High School Dance" )

Baby Im'a Wanchu: Sweet Bread for sure, just never could get beyond that hook.

Last I heard, David Gates is still on The Road as a single & does the Bread hits in his show in addition to some great cowboy stuff.

No doubt his band is crackerjack (whoa, hold on there, Rez) but the players in Bread among the finest in LA. I always wanted to as tasty as Larry Knechtel - didn't really ever quite work.

And, here's one for the ages: Robert Plant is touring behind perhaps his strongest solo album ever - Mighty Rearranger. I ran out & got it after seeing him on The Tonite Show. His show at The Greek Theater was mighty, too. LA Times review today is a good read.

He's one of the Great Dinosauers who hasn't atrophied (sp?) Not a nostalgia show - even when he does infamous Zep tunes (often re-invented. His new stuff stands right in there.

Nobody told him 56 is told old to Rock & Roll. Very glad for that.

This is a thread of good fun (exluding, of course, Bananaramaramaramamra.)
