GL and Folk fading into history forgotten???

I have seen, and heard of the young people that are GL fans, and that is encouraging. Are these youngsters going to carry the songs do you believe, or are they an anomily that will fade with the songs like vanished buffalo on the great plains? Have you noticed the lack of great western movies being produced these days...they are fading it seems too. Did I spell anomily right? I dont know if the word meaning even fits...I just thought it sounded good! LOL

Okay I know this might sound way "over the top," but I am 24 and discovered this guy's music less than 2 months ago and I am TOTALLY hooked!! GL's music makes the other music I listened to look like crap! And I have only 4 albums right now, but hopefully I'll get some more soon enough!

It's such a shame what is considered good music these days. I hear these Lightfoot songs, which are REAL music and REAL songs and REAL ballads, and I ask myself literally where was I my whole life without this stuff!! Seriously!

I think it's spelled "anomaly" but I am not sure. I'm not sure if that is the right word though...I think anomaly means an unusual occurence in what would otherwise be a normal situation

That's a weird looking word in and of itself. Maybe we're both wrong!

You asked if the youngsters were going to carry on these songs or something. Well, all I can say is this: a lot of music I have listened to in the past has been merely a diversion. It's just a bunch of sounds meshed together to produce a pop song. I mean, you could call yourself a fan of a particular singer or band, but the key thing here is: are you merely a fan, or would your life feel different if you were deprived the ability to listen to this person's music? For me, GL's music fits the latter category. I also like some other artists' music but GL's music is the type of music that I had been always looking for but could never find! I don't know how to explain it though another way.

Knightmoves,I used to have the same concern about music before and during my own time. When the '90s started and rap & hip hop took over,along with grunge and whatever else....I thought we were all doomed to be dinosaurs before our time!

Then in the 90s,Swing music & dancing resurfaced,the Doo-Wop specials on PBS appeared,as well as the more recent 70s revivals and now the 80s are on the road back (I don't know if I should be happy about that or not )

The overall point is,there will always be a new generation of young people curious about what happened before their time,as well as the fact that not all people want or like the same things,musically speaking in this case.

I once knew a dude who was about 18 or 19 around the time I was 27. He liked the song,"Knock On Wood" by Amii Stewart from '79! I thought it was so great that someone younger than me knew a song that I knew! I honestly don't think we have anything to worry about Knight.
Besides,even though it may not seem like it,the new generation of artists (if they have any true musical background) admire the artists of the past and record their songs. Otherwise,we wouldn't have a tribute to GL called,"Beautiful". Been me,later!

will still be around in 200 years because it
is good, plain and simple. Lightfoot's music has already stood the test of time.
His contributions to music are tremendous and
his music itself is timeless. People still
want something of quality regardless of how old or new it may be.

Thanks for adding your thoughts BS. I am going to look up that song dedication "Beautiful" and see if I can hear it, or buy it. I heard of a couple of young bands (cant think of their names) that played their own versions of some GL songs...within the last 6 or 8 months I think. Have you heard this?
