Isn't it weird how...

All the songs on the 'A Painter Passing Through' album none of them fade away at the end. I wonder if this was done for any particular reason.

Also, on the 'Waiting For You' album, I hear the word "imagination" used a lot more than usual. Oh well, that's not really important.

A subject near and dear! I HATE it when a song fades out. If I were a recording artist, I'd NEVER let my songs fade out (unless I could physically do it with my instruments, for some effect).

Man, I just want to yell at every pop star who uses a fade-out: If you bother writing something, then PLEASE COMPOSE AN ENDING FOR IT! You're getting paid millions (sometimes) to write three minutes of bad poetry. THINK UP A FREAKIN' ENDING!!! Cuz you know what? If ever you perform it live, my friend, you'll have to figure out an end then, right?

Sorry. This topic boils my blood. Breathe deeply, Restless, breathe deeply.

Maybe there's a reasonable explanation for the fade-out. What is it's origin? Was it a requirement for early radio, so DJs would know when a song was ending?

Needless to say, the more an artist utilizes true endings on their material, the more respect they get from me.

My favorite new album is SO MUCH FOR THE CITY, by The Thrills, and if I'm not mistaken, not one of those tunes fades out. God bless them, one and all!

Hmmm. I wonder how Gord feels about it? He did, after all, write a song about it... "Fading away... I'm fading away... I'm fading......"

Know what galls me more than fade outs? (By the way, I'm an ex-disc jockey and they were very helpful to us back in the days when we "spun" the records, ever hear a dj who didn't like to voice-over the fade out and voice-over the lead-in right up to the point where the vocals begin?) Anyway, back to my point. The trend with many of today's performers to abruptly end their songs without warning gets my blood boiling even more! Half (yes, half-not have ) the time it sounds like the song friggin' ends right in the middle!

With some songs the fade-out is good, but it never really gets on my nerves. I think 'Ringneck Loon' could've used a fade-out, any song that is very relaxing like that. But I do hate those abrupt endings, and most of all when the DJ starts talking over the fade-out. Makes me want to go punch him/her in the face with all my might and fury. Oh well, I guess some things never die.
