No,I'm not asking what then currecnt disco songs would he have done (perish the thought!)

What I want to know is would you have bought it and stayed ever so true as a fan or...

Would you make like Homer Simpson and say,"That's it I'm Outta here!" ? in other words,like when rock stars went disco,would you have felt musically betrayed?

Knowing me then (if I asked my mother of course) i would definetly want it,because I liked disco then & still do. If I were a GL fan then,oh yeah for sure.

Nope, wouldn't of bought it because I refused to spend $$$ on disco music and but for 1 or 2 exceptions within the past decade, still haven't to this day. I was a part of the movement back then to boycott disco. If you didn't buy it, it would go away.

I would get very angry with my friends, who had to bribe me and physically drag me (kicking and screaming, no lie) to Saturday afternoon disco lessons, and weekend evenings to the juice bar, 'Smiles' discoteque in 'Webstah'.

Probably less than 20 disco songs I liked and are those I still do like. Was a huge fan of Andy Gibb.

Framptom, The Who, Neil Young, CSN, Starship, GL (of course), Bad Company, Paul Simon, Led Zepplin, Elton John, Bily Joel, Nilsson and all the female folkies (especially Janis Ian & Joni Mitchell). I was also listening to all the oldies (any and all)I could, soul, some pop, big band, country, old Motown and was into bluegrass.

Bought my 1st guitar in '78 after a summer in the YCC. We weren't hearing much disco yet and that was the summer of 'Grease'.

So only a slim chance that Lightfoot+disco would have done it for me. Acoustic guitar was my thing. It was Lightfoot's guitar-playing that influenced my wanting to pick to begin with and ultimately, influenced my picking technique and stlye. That may have been lost altogether had he gone disco.

UGH especially if he dressed like that...no way. (as was my teenage mindset at the time) Jeans only, and Frye boots, sandals, barefoot, etc. (Andy and Elton were exempt) and no platform shoes!

I was a pinball player though..so if he had a disco song about pinball, that would have been ok.

I was in your camp back in the day...
I disliked disco.
Everytime I got to England me and a lot of the other female military members would go into London and they always wanted to do DISCO. So, I would ditch them and go listen to basement jazz and such, great stuff (they always ended up in jail anyway I figured out after my second episode with females GI's in London (I'm not big on jail"/

Recently I have been steady listning to APPT and Endless Wire. Sure not disco, but, it makes trips and long afternoons emmersed in putting prgrams together speed right along

It would be nice if PBS would do something on him the Edmund Fitzgerald or something in this vein.
I was looking at some books I purchased from the Grand River area at a light house there and they have so much info about Gord in that wreck. There are many other books written about shipwrecks. There are, also, other songs about shipwrecks...but, Gord really hit the proverbial three cherries jackpot with his timely song, don't you think? Where in the world were you when you first heard Gord's Edmund Fitzgerald? There were plenty of musical currents moving in the time of this songs' release. Disco it was not, but, didn't it connect two styles of music?
