"Radio broadcasters are gearing up for the possibility they will be compelled to air 40% Canadian content at the end of a review of their industry that is expected this year.
Radio stations now devote 35% of the music they play to Canadian artists......
At a recent investor conference held by BMO Nesbitt Burns in Toronto, Rael Merson, president of Rogers Broadcasting, said a 40% Canadian content rule would "dilute" Canadian radio stations, causing them to lose listeners to U.S. stations whose signals come across the border.
He said there is not enough product in many genres to justify a playlist that is 40% Canadian.
******"You can only play so much Gordon Lightfoot," lamented one radio executive.***

Only one question:
--Who is this "executive" who thinks there is only "so much Gordon Lightfoot " you can play??
