DMD: A D18V is a Martin Model D18 vintage guitar. Retails for around $2800. It is the base model that Gord plays, though a few years ago Martin issued a D18GL model which carried Gord's signature on a limited run...68 guitars as I recall, or something in that number. The D18GL's have been sold out for some time.
Iron: How good a deal did you score on e-bay...may I ask? I've been occasionally checking ebay but I've always been concerned about damage in shipping, unless I could find something I want within driving distance. How are you handling that issue?

SUM,
I don't mind telling what I got it for,so long as you don't tell any law enforcement agency's,cause I think I stole it.I got it for $1425,which is a great price, and get this,it is a 2003,the guy just bought it a few months ago and He is sending me the warranty registration that he never filled out,so I'll also get the lifetime Martin warranty. That is extremely rare to find on Ebay. I've been watching for a D18v for quite a while, I could'nt pass it up.
As far as the shipping issue goes,You have little,if anything to be worried about. Most all guitars you see in the music stores are shipped UPS ground. You pay a small amount for shipping insurance,$20 or so for one such as I just got,and if there is any damage or even if it's destroyed, your covered. I had my D18GL shipped from Texas to Pa. via UPS ground and needless to say,I was a bit worried to say the least, but it arrived safe and sound. The guy I got it from told me that in 20 years,{Craig's Music}they have had like 2or3 instances of slight damage in shipping.I would'nt worry a bit about the shipping issue.

WOW! That IS a super deal! Like half-price for a virtually brand new guitar. The guy must have some hefty debts he needs to pay off on! Congratulations! And thanks for the heads up on the shipping issue. I won't worry so much about it in the future. Now, if I can just find the right deal!

It arrived safe and sound(Oh what a sound) on the 11th. I could'nt be happier!!It does'nt yet quite match the GL,but it's got a little aging to do.I love E-bay.
S.U.M.,
I don't know if you've been watching E-bay or not,but I saw a pretty good deal on a D-18,it's an older one(1936),but the starting bid was only $20,000!!!go for it!!
Seriously though, there was a listing on for brand new ones from an out of business dealer for like $1700..
Well gotta go,got some picken to do...
