If you are interested in going to see Gord Lightfoot at the end of November in Hamilton, let me know...especially if you are a young beautiful female!

Just a hunch here Char, but I assume the ticket is for the seat next to knightmoves. You already have a young beautiful female sitting next to you. Oh, and I'll be there too on the other side.

Ok...The reason I have this extra ticket...About 4 years ago, I bought a home on the river in Niagara Falls Canada. I built a dock right in front of my house, and from there I can go fishing, boating or swimming. I can also have bonfires on the riverbank at night. This costs alot of money to maintain (and my singing/songwriting carreer just isn't taking off...LOL ), so I have my business that keeps me pretty busy. So busy, that my girlfriend at the time (of two months) accused me of having another girlfriend. She just couldnt understand how I could be so busy. There I was working my tail off, and putting up with false allegations. It wasn't long before I dreaded talking to her, or answering the phone at night. So...mercifully, it ended. I had bought tickets for her and I to see GL in Hamilton, but now I have the extra ticket. I could never take one of my male buddies to see GL. Sorry...I just couldnt...Wouldn't be right. The tickets I have are in the first balcony.

It's a dock ...but its like a deck...(8 x 14) with a standup bar. If your lucky, I might pull out my guitar and play some GL. If you feel yourself getting all hot and bothered, you can just take a swim...You have to be quite a good swimmer, as there is quite a current. All the local kids jump off the bridge further up river and just float down with the current. The water is clear and you can see the fish swimming in the water all around you.

dock, duh. This is what working at a computer 9 1/2 hours a day will do to your brain. Pudding.
I'd rather take the boat out than swim. and you can strum and sing to heart's content, as long as you don't mind if I chime in off-key once in awhile (one of my many "charms").
do you catch and release or eat the fish?
mmm. fish.
Sounds like you have a lovely place to get away from world...

OK Laurel now be aware of another on (I believe) a fairly recently issued compilation set:-
(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me recorded by Elvis on Monday, 15 March, 1971
Written by: Lightfoot
Originally recorded by Gordon Lightfoot in 1964
Hear Elvis's version on: Walk A Mile In My Shoes -- The Essential 70's Masters Disc 3
and moreover if you go to Amazon's page http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002WUD/q id=1099669237/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/002-2290065-2227243#product-details
and scroll down to the track listing for disc3 there is a short (30 second) clip of the King's version!!
Gordon Lightfoot recorded his own version shortly before Peter, Paul and Mary's hit version of 1964, but his recording was not released until 1966. (See also "Early Morning Rain.")
although at:-
http://www.letssingit.com/?http://www.letssingit.com/elvis-pres ley-for-lovin-me-thats-what-you-get-63q2ghs.html
you can read the lyrics headed by this remarkably ill-informed claim
"For Lovin' Me (That's What You Get)
by Elvis Presley"
John Fowles
Why do women wear evening gowns to nightclubs? Shouldn't they be wearing nightgowns?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
