For anybody interested (and it took some finding) the relevant topic "gord" in the test forum complete with Gaby's replies is at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000011.html
and SUIM if you had looked at Douglas' reposting a little harder you would possibly have realised the significance of this old item. Firstly it is a little background/explanation for EMP's obvious reluctance to have their own website and/or e-mail address.
Next it was amazing that "protocol"/Mike (who actually bothered to register himself on July 28 2000 as a member (something that far too many current posters fail to do IMHO) and according to his profile posted a total of three times only ( although a search yields but two results both on the 28th)
The other posting is on page 2 of the long thread on favo(u)rite songs
at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000055-2.html
wghich is basically the same posting but with the following additions.
"I would eventually like to put together a Gordon Lightfoot tribute band,"
which was done after the 2001 Massey Hall convention of course and "I work in Toronto as a web designer, this site is great, but I want to add so much more, for example (p)ople will be able to click on a song( not download) and listen to it! They will be able to buy his cd's etc.. online, and anything written about him(Gordon Lightfoot - A Canadian Legacy) for example!"
However his prime intended purpose stated as
"an idea for wonderful Gordon Lightfoot website" was very largely covered already by the trio of existing "wonderful" sites
(Valerie Magee's, Wayne Francis' and this one of course), although interestingly Valerie had planned albeit abortively to offer "Harmony " from her site and has 30-second clips of a very large number of tracks (including all 88 on "Songbook" on her site)
So I surmise that Douglas' object was to agree with Gaby's suggestion to bring this neglected topic to the wider audience.
Anyway that's my take on why this is here now OK
