hello everyone,i'm newbie..
can't read, can't write but i speak G.L.
love the site. a few hours here.
i live close to denver and there are good 2nd hand record stores there. i keep my 1st copy of all because. get more copies cause after a few hundred plays they wear out! if you live where you can't, they go for 5 to 10 a pop, depending upon condition, sometimes 50c but those ones be scratchy & such. i know you regulars have got all of this, but if you don't, cost plus postage (i'm semi-poor at the moment)& you got it. The artwork alone...i'll mail them with plywood cause i'm a carpenter. if a lot of you respond, it may take some time. but i'm sittin' on a couple. if interested e-mail me.

misty, hope you're feelin' better. been through some stuff like that lately, my heart goes out to you.

thank all of you for making me feel less alone.

Welcome aboard Russ,

Thanks for the offer, I'm sure you'll get a few takers. But I know you'll get a few laughs and some mighty interesting thoughts on Gordon. When I found this WONDERFUL site I was sure I was his #1 Fan. I was wrong but it's fun hearing people with such a wealth of information and honest affection for a great entertainer.

Hang in there,
Bill

hi joveski & everyone,
Yes I make my own CDs too. This computer can do it but I haven't got that sussed out yet.I have a "project" recording set up & use that.Working with and being a musician I am sensetive to copyright issues,it's amazing how often I'm asked to make CD's of material that's still in print,I don't.I've made cassettes of my albums & CDs for years to listen to in the van. There are gray areas here for sure,I'm curious to see how the dust settles on Napster & such. When the final four come out
I'll still buy them,I doubt I have to explain that on this site.
Would it be inappropriate to talk about specific pieces of recording equipment here?
Just finding my way, don't want to be making a plug.May be a subject for small chat or another room?
BTW-even if you don't like rap/hip hop I think all of us that still listen to our vinyl owe those guys & ladies a tip of the hat for keeping turntables & cartridges available. When's the last time you saw an
8-track tape player?
Gonna order the Reno tape tommorrow. Can't
wait! Now if somerone will dig out Soundstage,
The Johnny Cash Show,SNL (why doesn't Comedy
Central ever re-run that episode?)......
I know,I should be happy to get anything
and I am.
Talk to you later,
russ

There's nothing wrong with making a copy of something that doesn't exist. Fair enough to say its breakibng copyright to burn someone cold on the shoulder that's already available. Gord isn't losing money on copies of the final four going around cause they aren't available in the shops. If I offer someone i copy, i trade for it and not ask for $$$. Nothing illegal about that.

Cool! We're at the same place! One of my favorite things to trade is an album called Fraser & DeBolt w/ Ian Guenther. 2vox+2 gtr+fiddle+excellent. It was on Columbia, and I figure them to be the champs of $$$ over art, so I'm not holding my breath till it gets CDed. Found a site for Daisey Debolt the other night, have no Idea what she's doin' now but I'm gonna find out. I'm not sure how to describe F&D music to you but the word honest keeps coming to mind. Also acoustic, dynamic, humble, ecstatic, sensual, real, anyone interested?
Video-wise i've got a PBS Ian & Sylvia reunion tape w/ 1 1/2 GL tunes + other folks.
Got a snippet of Gord & Ian from the olympics that's dissapppointing just cause of announcer voice-over interference. Got Moses parting the Red Sea with a lighter or something, that's about it tho...

I sure didn't mean to seem judgemental about copying in my last post. On the contrary, I love to trade music (especially GL) & I think the Grateful Dead got it right when they realized their "taping fans" were their biggest fans & already bought everything they released.

My wife KC is larnin' me about these here computers. She loves GL & says hi, too. You might notice, the typing just got better.

Best wishes to all,
russ & kc
