Default Ellie Greenwich

I am surprised that the passing of Ellie Greenwich has not popped up here, she wrote some of the greatest songs to come out of the USA from the famous Brill Building in New York in the 60s, Check out the link.

This reminded me I used to have her vinyl album "Let It Be Written, Let It Be Sung"

It might be here with me now in the limited collection of heavy albums I imported here in 2000 , many of which are awaiting digitising into CDs if only I could find the time
some that I have already replaced by pukka CDs are:-
Jaki Whitren Raw But Tender

Peggy Lee with George Shearing
Beauty And The Beat

Plus a pair by Lesley Duncan

and the very best of a one time pop and film star called Elvis Presley

whilst on this subject another little known singer who everybody has frequently heard singing is
Marni Nixon
Never heard (of) her? Come now you must have heard Deborrah Kerr singing in The King and I and
Audrey Hepburn in My fair Lady not to mention Natalie Wood in West Side Story?
Wrong!!
Marni "dubbed the singing voices of film actresses in The King and I, West Side Story and My Fair Lady"
and she is now 79

I guess most of us have heard of Marnie Nixon, Sir John, if my memory serves me well she is the mother of singer/songwriter Andrew(Oh, What a Lonely Boy)Gold.
