Default GL heard at grocery stores

This is probably an old topic, but don't the members here find it amazing when Gord is heard in the background music at grocery stores? I recently heard "Early Morning Rain" (the Gord's Gold version) in a local grocery store, and I sang along as people walked by. Anyone else have this happen?

oh yeah - and when it does I stand and listen, regardless of what store it may be...then I continue on my way with a smile on my lips and a song in my heart .

No...the people usually run, not walk by when I start singing along

I've heard IYCRMM and Rainy Day People at Acme within the past month. I also hear Harry Chapin a lot.

Number of years ago I got "blown away" when I heard an instramental version of "It's Worth Believin' " (my favorite Lightfoot song)... It was in a dept. store like Macy's.

I've heard a number of instramental versions of his songs in stores like "If You Could Read My Mind" & "Rainy Day People".

Always get a "kick out of it".

Yes and I always look up at the ceiling, for some reason I think that's where all the speakers are. And my wife knows I'll have stopped after she catches the tune. But it makes me feel a bit old knowing that Gord is like Muzak to some people.

I not only sometimes hear his music in stores, but as a kid I used to hear him played over the PA system in movie theatres. I think it's a brilliant strategy on the part of the grocers as his voice tends to soothe people to the point that they can actually make better choices while shopping.
