Default No whistling?

Anyone have any idea why Gord doesn't whistle anymore when he does "Ghosts of Cape Horn"?

Any idea when he stopped whistling?

Maybe he doesn't like to anymore?

I just don't think he can do it at this point. Every time over the last few years there has been some prolific whistler in the audience who helps out. And some drunks who suck at it but they do it anyway. Oh well it's still a great tune to hear him do.

..and may one ask, what are drunks doing in the audience at a Gordon Lightfoot show?

Can't Terry,Bill or the others give a "hoot"?

He appeals to an older audience. Time has taken its toll.

Like he said in 1979/80 on the Soundstage program, just before doing 'Ghosts Of Cape Horn', "Dont mind my whistling here, I may sound like a tin whistle."

I personally know some drunks who are great whistlers and led 2500 Massey Hall folks in the whistling parts of Ghosts back in 2005..
lol

I think in the last few years it may be because of breath control due to the abdominal surgeries he had..perhaps the effects of the Bell's Palsy might be considered as well.. Maybe he just doesn't want to ..and checks to see if we in the audience are paying attention..
lol
