Thank you for posting that - great article and pics. To me, the pics reflect a certain elegance and intellect, they are very striking.
So...if I was to come to Toronto for the May concerts, is there any chance of meeting him do you think?

Okay, thank you - am considering how to accomplish this - I thought airfare would be cheaper than about $700 r/t. Have never been to Toronto and have always wanted to go - and to see GL in Toronto would be amazing

Absolutely correct to be in the Hall with a load of corfiddlers all there to see The Man is truly something you just have to do!!Plus there will be another wonderfully entertaining jam session at McVeighs.
but if it is going to cost you many hard earned bucks then to make it worhwhile IMHO you should try to attend all 4 concerts.Bring some wine with you!
We visited Sonoma City and a half dozen of its vinyards in 2008 one of the nicest cities I have been to
Somewhere I have some notelets and envelopes printed on paper made from camel dung that I found in that interesting and enterprising emporium

Think I just might do it! I wonder if Canadian customs will let one bring wine into the country? It's not loaded but one could get loaded...ha ha ha ha ha. Sonoma is a nice little town. They probably still had the chickens in the square in 2008? I live about 20 minutes west of Sonoma. Great wine and food and apparently also some very original stationary!

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine
Thanks Charlene - so one can bring 2 bottles of wine. It did occur to me that a passport is required now. And when asked by customs what is the purpose of your trip? I can say, I'm going to see Gordon Lightfoot!!! I don't have to tell them I'll never leave...I've always wanted to be a Canadian -

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine
Well c'mon up! The more the merrier!
I've used the "I'm going to see Gordon Lightfoot" on my way into the States a few times and have never had a problem so coming into Canada with that line should be easy peasy.. Make sure the wine is in your stowaway luggage tho!
Unless you put it into many, many, many smaller bottles..lol

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine
Just a thought on a cheaper airfare. last year I flew into Buffalo instead of Toronto. The drive isn't too far and the airfare, at least from Az, was a lot cheaper.

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine
I always tell the truth going through customs - I am here to see GL at Massey Hall. Once I got a strange and confused look and I said "he is a Canadian icon - ya know what I mean?" he just stamped the passport and never said a word.

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine
When my sons and I have passed through Canadian customs and I tell them we're going to see Gordon Lightfoot, they generally just nod. When we pass back into the USA, they invariably look into the car and say, "You drove all the way from Wisconsin to see Gordon Lightfoot?!" But they've always let us back in...
