The Fitz by the Illegal Band
Trying out the video search offered by http://www.bing.com
on my new toy my Acer Ferrari 3400 notebook
I was very pleased to find the individual review feature was functioning,in which each video result, mostly youtube of course, will start playing as you hover the mouse cursor over it.
I quickly found a cover of the Fitz by the "Illegal Band" that sounded interesting
I opened up the youtube page and the first thing I noted was the description which starts
"This is my version of the Gordon Lightfoot song "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". It was recorded on a Korg 32XD Porta-Studio".
I misread that as either Portaloo or PortaCabin or even a PortaPotty and firstly spent a moment speculating on why he had recorded it in such a confined space (to enhance the echo effects maybe) before the penny dropped so to speak.
His choice of images to illustrate the story is very commendable, in particular that for the "Ice Water Mansions"
and as several of the 319 text comments say it is a splendid cover version, vocal and instrumentalwise, and by the way he pronounced De-Troy-It I'd wager that the singer is a Canadian
I will post a comment on youtube suggesting that the singer reads this and responds here
