Re: Jim Cuddy interview
Thank You, Char.
That was an interesting interview with Jim Cuddy.
It sounds like he plans on singing and playing for a long time to come. That's good news
He looked very good in that picture. Of course, I only adore him for his talent

Re: Jim Cuddy interview
i realized i've posted this before but didn't realize if non-local fans knew this was the same guy who co-leads Blue Rodeo...when i first saw the I&S cover being practiced for the Hall of Fame tribute, it made me crave a similar raw Gord performance... similar to his Live 8 solo set but perhaps joined by a harmony singer for any tunes that might lead themselves to it, like so many of the mid/earlier ones... i don't mean a duet as we all know Gord isn't a fan of duets, a self-proclaimed control freak, lol
any, after Jim's guitar flub just before the 1:00 mark, the harmony kicks in nicely:

Re: Jim Cuddy interview
the "one hit wonders" will love the internet for the instant gratification that so many people seem addicted to..their patience to sit and listen to a whole album that has been put together by a thinking artist who appreciates the flow and evolution of the songs on one album has been lost -
they listen to one song and they're on the way to another artist on their newest electronic gadget..
this way of listening is just a reflection of the way their lives are - fast paced, on the go, music is just another noise that filters thru their busy minds as they rush thru life..
The electronic ability to shuffle thousands of songs, make your own compilation cd's etc.
is so easy now.
I remember stacking my albums beside the turntable and setting up my tape deck..writing my list of songs from each album and making sure they would fit on each side of the cassette.. it would take forever to make a compilation cassette! So I never had many and those that I did make were of only one artist per cassette! lol

Re: Jim Cuddy interview
right on, char....and yuri made a great post about this also recently
it's a fast food society where folks don't even take 40 minutes to sit through an album, concept breed or not...i'm not a headphones guy unless it's late at night, i like my ears to breath but either way, a good dose of musical solitude does wonders and most don't know what's their missing...maybe the get this through those ipods and do the 'shuffle' (lol) but it just doesnt seem the same...btw, there is a new sweetpea ipod thing meant for infant to 6 year olds, out in time for xmas...it hold 4 hours of downloads...i guess new mothers wont even need daycare workers next year, lol

Hells bells - i'll be out of a job forever then!
lol
When Darryl was a baby-6 months or so he'd sit in his stroller with headphones on and listen to music..Corey Hart, Springsteen, CyndiLauper, Kenny Loggins, Micahel Jackson, whoever had the more rock/upbeat stuff out in 1984.. he loved it..the kid was and still is a music nut..
I'll never get over seeing the tattoos he has on his arms tho: DEFTONES songs.
Like you I'm not a headphones person..I can't put those IPOD things in my ears at all.ugh.
