Hello All
It has been some time since I have dropped by. As I lay down with my head phones on, enjoying " Summertime Dream" for the 17,000th time, it dawned on me that I have not checked out the forum in a while. Not much has changed, I see... Lightheads forever! I saw Gord last summer in Ottawa, and again, was blown away. The sound quality bothered me again however as the volume was far too low. He is truly a poet and an inspiration. His music is timeless. I hope everyone is well... I'll be sure to check out everything I've missed!! Congrats to the moderators and everyone responsible for keeping this up and running.

Re: Hello All
Nice 2 hear from U again, Doug !
Are you aka ole' 'PlumbGuru2' by any chance I recall all the way back to alt.music.lightfoot ? - where I was 'GISman' -and earlier - MAPman ?
The crowd may have mellowed a bit since '06, or so; as I was out of corfid for family medical needs for about 1 year or so, and when I came back, there were'nt any cowboys shootin' up the saloons and tree'en the town...like maybe 1 or 2 were back in '06, verbally so to speak lol... its pretty mellow around here.---------
On a personally biased note I'd invite you into two threads I've enjoyed posting:
1. 'GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more' - it goes like this:
Q199.... tin - and the dots tell you here the word(s) is/are at the end of the verse...and here tin rings a bell for many with 'Affair on 8th Avenue',
so you post a guess with one line of lyric or verse , in this case ending with
...tin , then name the song, and submit ! If it is the song I had in mind when I wrote the Q, or another song that works, bingo, if you're the first to get a working song - you win it.
I should have ten new song clues up by mid-day monday - my last estimate was in hopes of our last tough one up be solved, as I was having some other matters to content with....but my guess of 10 new songs by end of eve Sat night sorta 'shorted out'..lol...
So, the natives grew restless and 'nuked' my last problem tuffy Q..sayin "get 10 new songs up go888$t" ..lol....the perogative of understood-to-be regular old hands at the game once in awhile... but I sorta, well I do "host" the game, its just ongoing posts, as we all have a chance...
------ + similar
AND...there are several lyrics and/or other games or 'thinkers' I call 'em going, all fun. one with 'themes', now food, that will re-fire when its 'host' -
Like Oh,Linda! returns Monday or tuesday - the 3rd or 4th , can't remember. Just find songs with food or drink - consumables in them.
And jj is writin some good theme ones, or tracking community efforts thereto on others,
And I C " RM" - (Ron) has a ( resurected Ron ?) new(!) lyrics thread up with 123 posts or so allready ; have not seen yet tonight; will have to look. I think I drove them over the edge waitin on 10 new clues, so they built a saloon next door ....lol --------------------------
or, if thats not your cuppa, or in any event, a newer one I just started seems to be of some interest for a couple days anyway....
2.) " You KNow You are a GL fan if......."
no rules...you simply fill in the blank, as in :
( You know you are a GL fan if)...you listen to Summertime Dream 17,000 times in bed with earphones lol....
- we've had some real well thought out ones so far....
And of course, aside from the tangent of games and fill in the blanks, or guess this or that, you know the drill; we've all sorts of interesting ones up - and you remember the all the old quizzes we used to have, right ? Sort of a resurgance of them for a while.Welcome back again.

GeoSteve, Doug Kirk (plumbguru2 or now just plumbguru) reporting in. I am now living in Sacramento, CA and yes I remember you. Situations have conspired against me seeing Lightfoot this year but with YouTube and torrents I've been able to keep up.
I read new post almost daily but feel like many who also probably only read.....I said just about all I had to say back in the day, when the Newsgroup (alt.music.lightfoot) was easily accessed through AOL. Most of those old post are still available through google groups if anyone cares to look. http://groups.google.com/group/alt.m...topics?lnk=srg
It was a new and exiting time getting to know other fans and making connections that may last as long as I live. I treasured those times but realized Mrs. Guru was being ignored which was not a good thing. I made a decision that a good marriage was more important and cut down on my posts which seem to take ages for me to compose.
Anyway just wanted to let you know I'm still hanging around and Lightfoot is still a major interest in my life.

I saw Gordon for the first time in my life on the 5th here in Little Rock & I truly thought that I'd died & gone straight to Paradise! True, his voice was ever so slightly soft, but it was still strong sounding & very clear. And from where I was seated, you could see the laughter in his eyes. It was just a fantastic night all around.
