Lightfoot Today
The intention of this thread is to ask others to ponder what Lightfoot tune might best express your feelings today. It can be mournful, or it could be joyful. I need help to figure out what tune might fit this scenario :
My situation : A good friend ( you know the kind......give 'em a call, and they'll be there) will no longer be a phone call away, but days. They will be missed.
Lightfoot tune : Help please.......

Re: Lightfoot Today
I can think of a few....
Did she mention my name
Now and Then
The ever present If You could read my mind
And one of my alltime favorites I'm not supposed to care.

Yep, "Rainy Day People" would have fit perfectly, if I hadn't read the Songbook notes. That messed me up, completely altering my take on the song.
But it may be as close as I can hope to come.

Re: Lightfoot Today
A Passing Ship- wish I was out on the ocean today, maybe fishing, maybe on a boat full of beautiful ladies in bikinis for spring break.

Re: Lightfoot Today
for you Ron
I would suggest
"Long Way Back Home"
"Oh say can you see
My best friend is me
I'm a friend I could use"
And for myself bearing in mind the momentous day that it is I'll go for
Ecstasy Made Easy
"I hope I never lose what belongs to me
By the right of my birth"

Re: Lightfoot Today
For me it would have to be:
"Our love for each other may not be explained
We live in a world where tears must fall like rain."

Re: Lightfoot Today
When you think about it, Rainy Day People does seem to be appropriate.
