If you like real country music, there's this good band I saw last night. The lead singer's name is Jason Petty. He sings many Hank Williams songs and looks very much like him. The band sounded excellent too.

Interesting Patti you mentioned a band but did not actually name it.You only gave the name of a singer
Jason Petty
I therefore googled for him and the top result actually said
"Jason Petty has won critical acclaim all over the country for his surreal performance as country legend Hank Williams in the
off-Broadway hit Hank Williams....."
I then visited his web site where I read in confirmation
AND COUNTRY MUSIC HOW IT USED TO BE...HOW IT OUGHT TO BE!

He's traveled Hank Williams' Lost Highway from Nashville to Broadway...and now he's bringing his award-winning sounds
of the country music legend out on the road for 2006-2007.. Jason Petty has won critical acclaim all over the country
for his surreal performance as country legend Hank Williams in the off-Broadway hit Hank Williams' "Lost Highway'".

Hank's country music style there being many others I preferred from the likes of Johhny
Cash to Hank Locklin to the curent wave of "girls with guitars" such as to name but three:-
Juice Newton, who I now find was "born Judy Kay Newton (or Cohen)" in Lakehurst New Jersey

Suzy Bogguss

and Beth Nielson Chapman

Beth with the Beeb's "Whispering" Bob Harris (late of the "Old Grey Whistle Test";
since you ask a BBC television series nominally featuring good catchy tunes that old grey haired people would be likely to whistle)

Thanks, John. Back when I posted, I wasn't sure of the name of the band. Out in the hall, they just had a picture of the lead singer. But I looked it up and the name of the band is the Honky-Tonk Heroes.

Well, go figure. I had no idea that Juice Newton was born in Lakehurst. My daughter goes to school in Lakehurst. Actually her school is built inside the hangar where they used to keep the Hindenburg. It's a prep school for performing arts run by the county.
