Fantastic ! You make it look effortless. By any chance, would Leo Kottke be an influence ?

That was great! I immediately thought of Kottke, too. We're partial to Kottke, as he's a fellow Minnesotan, plus those weird open tunings!

Bill,

This really is fantastic - congratulations!! I too fell in love with fingerstyle a few years ago and naturally Kottke comes to mind. I saw him a couple of times in concert here and each time I'm not sure if I should feel inspired or frustrated...
I'm just working on his version from Fahey's 'The Last Steam Engine" and so far my train sounds like it's running out of steam when it should rather pick up on it....Not to mention the overall speed.

So I really have a great appreciation for your work, it sounds amazing. Will you treat us to some more??

Quite lovely!

Just out of curiosity.... have you ever tried to put a tune to someone else's words?

Thanks for the comments! I am fiddling with compression settings and all sorts of timecomsuming stuff to make the videos look better. I recorded a dozen or so tunes in the studio yesterday (quickly, so the performances aren't perfect).

But I learned years ago playing bars that being known for guitar playing is like being a gunfighter in the Old West...someone is always faster and better and looking to pick you off.

So for me it's about the melodies. If ever I get this stuff in album form I'd call it "Tunes My Dog Can Whistle"!

Always have worked solo to this point. I have written lyrics, but not in this batch I just got on video.

So I'll send an update when I get the others loaded.

Thanks again!

Bill,
I enjoyed your video! Good playing, good sound, guitar sounds very well balanced, and the song is very cool also.
Will look for more!

See my "Quote" response to tour gunfighter statement.

..."heal yourself mister and meet me at the OK Corral.." :D
I know what you mean and I too gave up trying to deal with players that 'want to take you on' many years ago.
