I just thought I'd announce that 30 years after that show's end,
Karl Malden who played Mike Stone (1972-'77)
has turned "95" today,March 22nd!! WOW!!

That means he was already 65 when it ended in June 1977.
Happy birthday Karl, loved your "Seinfeld" guest spots too by the way.

What? Oh,do I have too? Okay!

"This message has been a Quinn/Martin production!!" LOL! :D

And don't forget those Amex ads: "American Express: don't leave home without it!"

Found out news that's just as great,to go along with this!

I watched Access Hollywood before turning in last night and along with his birthday, announced that "Streets" 1st season is coming out on home DVD April 10.

I really didn't see the show back in the day,I remembered the opening credits however. Just 6 years ago,a local FOX affiliate started showing them again and I caught up that way. It's watching a man his age take on the (then) young punks.

I love it! Now I wont have to stay up until 2am to see it.

Hey Gitch,Karl got that schnoz because he used to be a boxer like 70 years ago. Glad he changed professions.

I do recall those ads Annie,as well as Johnny Carson's hilarious send-up of them :D LOL!

Ahhh....anyone recall his short lived 1980 series called "Skag" (?)
(Skag is short for his polish character's long last name.)

I was a fan of, Streets Of San Francisco.

Cannon, Kojack, Hawaii Five 0, The FBI, Columbo, and others I dont remember right now. Didn't like McCloud. But loved the movie Duel...

I ordered the 1971 movie, 'Vanishing Point.' Barry Newman races this beautiful white Dodge Challenger across the desert, being chase by police, only to meet a tragic end.

You're right Annie,it was Speilberg's debut and personally I think it was way too good to be just a made for TV film.

It's on been on DVD now for about 2 years,I still want to get it because I never get tired of it.

I watched those same shows Jess. Starsky & Hutch/The Rockford Files/Hawaii Five 0 (also new on DVD S.#1)/Baretta/S.W.A.T. etc....
Kojack & Charlie's Angels are currently being rerun on the "ION" TV network (formerly PAX and/"I". (Channel 51 here in AZ).

Getting back to Malden,I was quite impressed with his acting in "A Streetcar Named Desire" which also starred Marlon Brando & Vivian Liegh.

It wasn't until IMDB that I realized how long he'd been around. I hop he makes it to 100.

No "West Side Story" but one episode of "The West Wing." To see his filmography go to http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001500/

Very impressive.

Dear Borderstone and the rest of you(you know who you are),

Thanks for the yank back to my much younger years. They just don't make television shows like they use to.

Did anyone watch and like Marcus Welby, MD.?

Rose,I recall "Marcus Welby M.D." vaugley but the show was totally beyond me then.
(No good guy/bad guy action y'know.)

No,they don't make them like they used to,I truly do miss the days when the selection was simple and we just had the big three networks.

Maybe the stories on some shows weren;t completely realistic but I was watching to be "entertained".

If I wanted "enlightenment" I'd either watch PBS or go to church.

Het T.T. - Speaking of Saturday Morning.

I was on You Tube yesterday and for the first time in 30 years, wathced the opening credits of Sid & MArty Krofft's "The Wonderbug"! :D A show about a magic car and it's three "teen" owners. (played by early 20 somethings).

This show was part of 90 mins of The Krofft Supershow in 1976-77,definetly my favorite. Now though,I can't get the song out of head!

Did you mean the adults at the networks or at home? In my home we had two or 3 TV's and we all could watch what we wanted.

My parents should have never let me watch Karen Black's,"Trilogy Of Terror" on ABC! That movie gave me bad dreams for weeks!

Those not familiar,it's a movie with three "scary" storylines, the first two are nothing compared to #3. Karen buys a wooden voodoo doll and it comes to life and chases her around her house with a large sharp knife, making horrible sounds!

I don't know how they did that but sheesh!
