There's a "survivor" style poll on rec.music.rock-pop-r&b.1970s. From round 2:
*******************************************
Gordon Lightfoot - Sit Down Young Stranger (18) def. The Chairmen of the Board - In Session (3)
Unfortunately the COTB stood no chance in this matchup with the makeup of the
voters around here, but it's a very good album.

Gord scores over Frank Sinatra, 18-3! Mind you, it's a very small sampling but gratifying all the same <g>
My Quote feature won't work, so I did it the hard way:
"Gord scores over Frank Sinatra, 18-3! Mind you, it's a very small sampling but gratifying all the same <g>"
<g> back. It might go the same way with a much larger sampling. My mother has been listening to this middle-eastern chant kind of crap that SHE says is calm and relaxing, but it does not have that effect on me. Give me headphones and GL any time.

Amen to that. I have a sister with chronic pain (degenerative disk disease in the cervical spine and possible MS too) so she has an awful time sleeping. I made a CD of soothing Lightfoot songs - she tells me she usually drops off around the fourth or fifth cut. She hasn't yet made it through the whole thing.
