Almost thirty years now where did the time go??

as we approach the 30th anniversary of the sinking we can expect that many articles will be appearing
A google alert today lists one on an artist:-

Award-winning Holmen wildlife artist Art Anderson worked on his painting of the Edmund Fitzgerald -- depicted just before it sank 30 years ago -- over the course of 15 years, including many house (sic) spent doing research.

"Will Anderson's painting go down in history alongside Gordon Lightfoot's famous song? Anderson's not so sure, but he wanted it to be good enough to stand alongside Lightfoot's well-researched musical documentation of the tragedy"
Doing a google image search reveals thousands of pictures and led me to this great site

This Great Lakes Bulk Freighter was built in 1958 by the Great Lakes Engineering Works, River Rouge, MI. The ship was named after the gentleman at the left, Mt. Edmund Fitzgerald

I think my favo(u)rite Fitz painting remains this one though

My googling also found a CD by Barby Holder that includes her version of "TWOTEF" see:-

I tried hard to find a picture of "Art Anderson"'s actual painting which I am sure I have seen on a site somewhere but such a search is diificult because it so happens that the ship that was trailing the Fitz was the Arthur Anderson and "art" is what a painting is anyway!!!

He meditated on a painting by Canadian painter Tom Thomson, and came up with "Canary Yellow Canoe" a previously unreleased rocker totally unlike most of his work except that he lists specific place names where he wants to go tripping in his canoe. It's a riot!

at "Whitefish Point Light Station, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, he (Lloyd Belcher) will do that again, as he rings the bell of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Helped by other survivors, it will be rung 29 times for each man lost on the ship, made famous in a Gordon Lightfoot ballad"

Am I the only one to hear and now read this ambiguously because I interpret/hear that as meaning that the bell wil be rung 29 times for each of the 29 victims for a grand total of 841 peals "plus a 30th (842nd) for all mariners".
I have always wondered about this even though Gord obviously intended you to see or indeed hear a comma after the word times but the Toronto Sun report has no comma as you can see above
Just in case my calculation proves correct then I recommend that Sharron a.k.a. mnmouse and John a.k.a, seafarer62 do not forget their earplugs tomorrow
Or perhapd Mr Belcher, as he rings the bell once for a lost sailor, knows better!!!

Just so happens that my fair lady has been bringing this exact topic to my attention for many years.She has even mentioned bringing the subject up with Gordon, every time we've been out "Gord-tourin".. She just Loves doin that to me.So far,She has never brought it up,but I sure would'nt put it past Her...
