noone sings Lightfoot like Lightfoot but I was curious if anyone out there would like to hear a particular Gord song interpreted by another singer. For example ,ever since the 1st time I heard "Make Way For The Lady", I can always hear Peggy Lee singing that song. She was a great singer from the '50's who had a very sultry, jazzy voice & this track would've suited her nicely.
My fave cover is Elvis doing "Early Morning Rain". Fantastic!
Bye for now

Don't know where this notion came from, but it just occurred to me that Chris Isaak ought to do a cover of Rosanna (from The Way I Feel). That's a really cool tune (and Chris Isaak, for many, symbolizes "cool").

I love Chris Isaak! He could cover several of Gords tunes quite well I think.
I for the most part never like anyone doing Lightfoot tunes except for Lightfoot.!
Chris IS cool!

I've long said that Sawyer Brown should record "Old Dan's Records". Or how about Rod Stewart doing "Same Old Obsession"?

Don't have a particular song in mind, but i believe James Taylor could a song or two justice. I've seen Garth Brooks live before and he did an excelent cover of American Pie. I think he could do a good one also. I think as far as a woman singing a Gord tune that Anne Murray would be my choice I could see her doing "Miguel".I think that's the name of the song.

The Kingston Trio has done Early Mornin' Rain ever since it came out. Their current version on their last CD (By Request) has a superb and dynamic banjo accompaniment to it that gives it a rather unique interpretation and feel. I'm looking forward to seeing them sing this in person in December.

Joveski,
you LIKE the Dylan cover of 'I'm not
supposed to care'?????? I cannot bear
to even imagine it!
Nobody sings Lightfoot like Lightfoot and no
matter how much of a genius Dylan may be
considered, he should NOT try to sing
Gord songs! Please NO!!!!!!!!

silverheels,
have you heard dylan do Early morning on his Self Portrait album?. That's a classic and he does it passionately. it's better than i'm not supposed to care.
does that mean gord shouldn't have done just like tom thumb's blues and ring them bells?

"Softly" sung by Bryn Terfel (a very expressive & colorful bass-baritone from Wales) would sound really nice.

Joveski,
I cannot bear the sound of Dylan at the best of times and NEVER doing a Lightfoot
song! Gord singing 'Ring Those Bells' cannot be compared to Dylan singing
Lightfoot, IMO.
Sorry.
