Ok, it's kind of embarrassing having to admit to being this clueless about our neighbor to the north, but here goes: my daughter and I were talking about our upcoming Thanksgiving next month, and I mentioned that on the GL site a while back, people were wishing our Canadian friends Happy Thanksgiving...which got us to thinking about the origins of Canada's Thanksgiving Day. Here we all re-tell the story of the "first" Thanksgiving and the pilgrims and all: can I get a short history lesson about Canada's holiday? (I realize it'e not GL related, but I thought perhaps you could all look at it as a public service to ignorant Americans like me!)

Thanks, Rona

40 years prior to the first U.S. Thanksgiving Canadians gave thanks for the harvest.

That sounds suspiciously like a Pagan holiday to me.
