I have read that GL has "written through" his contract with Warner/Reprise. Does this mean that his next release will be on an independent label-or merely that he made the agreed to number of albums and has sold enough records that Warner/Reprise will distribute any other new work he cares to put out? I certainly don't know the intricacies of recording deals, but I would find it interesting. Anyone know how many copies WFY and PPT sold-especially with the zero promotion they got. Shadows at the time (even with GL on a promotional tour) reportedly only sold 50,000 copies-which is somewhat surprising considering how active the material is his live sets.
I have heared Gord say on many recent occasions that he is writing, and planning to release at least one more album ("I'd like to do one more"). It seems every other quote is an assertion that he will continue what he's always done forever, alternating with comments suggesting a definite slowing down for him. Personally, I can't get enough Lightfoot, and I'll pay any price for as many new albums that come out.
