but I wish that, along with the lyrics, it gave the year each song was written. That would add so much to the "meaning" of each of them.
Is there such a site?
(I wanted that to appear as a link - is there a better way?) [/quote]Ann these forums are set up so that if you type in the complete URL including as Char said the "http" the forum system will automatically recognises it as a URL and will convert it to a clickable orange coloured hyperlink
Just try it out in a new test posting to the test forum, and once you have done hit the "preview" button (not the "post topic" button) a new browser window will then open showing exactly how your posting will appear
That preview facility works in all 3 forums and the Private Message system and is I find especially useful if you wish to try your hand at displaying a picture, perish the thought,(sorry inside joke) as you can thereby verify that you have entered the correct address of a picture (which I hasten to add must already be on a web site somewhere, anywhere, but
not on your own computer).
If not go to the very easy to use free linkable picture hosting site:-
http://www.imageshack.us
Of course the preview also lets you check that your attempt at formatting (
bold and/or
italic)
has the correct syntax.Sin Tax is very important of course.
The preview is one feature that is far superior to either Yahoo or Google Groups' previews where annoyingly hyperlinks are stoopidly shown as plain text so you have to wait till after posting to check that your link is correct.
Yet another plus is that because the link shows up on the preview as a proper clickable link you can if you wish verify that your link will achieve your desired action, by simply right clicking on it and selecting "Open in a new window"
You can also create your own hyperlinks using either a suitable word or a phrase or even a picture, but I'll leave that for another time
It's all great fun and rewarding.
The only problem is with displaying pictures is that it is all too easy to try to display a picture that is either too large a file (say much over 100KB) as that will I know from bitter experience be met with howls of protest from underprivileged folk like me still on a dial-p connection or is oversized (anything over about 800 pixels wide causes unnecessary scrolling problems because the picture is wider than the standard blue column width here.
I hope that helps you
John
Finally simply copying and posting the lyrics link you showed, omitting your superfluous code/quotation stuff, gives this link as you intended:-
http://www.lightfoot.ca/lyrics.htm
I omitted the final "#s" that you showed it does not seem to do anything
