Hosted by Canadian comedian/actor/rapper Tom Green, the 8th Annual Canada's Walk of Fame broadcast features performances by outstanding international music industry shapers, high-profile dancers and award-winning actors honouring Canada's world class talent.

CTV's entertainment unit, eTalk Daily, will produce a 30-minute Red Carpet special hosted by Ben Mulroney and Tanya Kim. The Red Carpet special will actually incorporate the unveiling of the stars dedicated to this year's inductees. The special, entitled CTV at Canada's Walk of Fame, airs live on Talk TV beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 5 followed by the live broadcast of Canada's Walk of Fame at 6 p.m. ET (check local listings) on Talk TV.

Then, on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings), eTalk Daily will feature the highlights from the awards show and key moments from the red carpet as Mulroney and Kim catch-up with inductees and other celebrities attending the gala.

As previously announced, this year's Canada's Walk of Fame inductees are: world-renowned singer Paul Anka; former Canadian Heavyweight Boxing Champion George Chuvalo; Billboard and JUNO Award-winning concert promoter Michael Cohl; Grammy Awards producer Pierre Cossette ; dancer Rex Harrington; internationally-celebrated music producer/singer/songwriter Daniel Lanois; multiple Grammy and JUNO Award-winning singer/songwriter/actor Alanis Morissette; actor and television star Kiefer Sutherland; and legendary actor, Fay Wray.

"We are delighted to add Canada's Walk of Fame to CTV's primetime schedule," said Susanne Boyce, CTV President of Programming and Chair of the CTV Media Group. "CTV is committed to showcasing the remarkable caliber of talent produced in Canada and Canada's Walk of Fame is a terrific opportunity to bring that talent to Canada and the rest of the world."

This star-packed edition of Canada's Walk of Fame will acknowledge the inductees' impact and contribution to Canada's cultural heritage as well as incorporate a number of musical and dance performances into the show. Michael Bublé will pay tribute to mentor Paul Anka with a special musical performance. Anka, who is celebrating his 47th year in show business, will perform It's My Life from his new album Rock Swings (to be released in Canada on June 7).

"We've got an incredible line-up of stars and performances for this year's show," said Peter Soumalias, Chair of Canada's Walk of Fame. "We're saving a few surprises for the actual show -- I think this is going to be the best Walk of Fame show yet."

The ceremony will also include a tribute to Fay Wray by Eion Harris, the winner of this year's Mary Pickford Young Filmmakers Competition.

This year's Canada's Walk of Fame Festival will be celebrated over four days (June 2-5) in Toronto. In addition, there will be a benefit rock concert on June 4. The festivities will conclude on Sunday, June 5, with the Star Unveiling, CTV's Red Carpet special, a Chanel Cocktail Reception, the Tribute Gala Show and an exclusive After-Party.

Keith Richards to present at Walk of Fame

By BILL BRIOUX -- Toronto Sun

Keith Richards, Michael Douglas and Gordon Lightfoot will be among the presenters when the latest inductees are honoured June 6 in Toronto for Canada's Walk of Fame.

Richards will fly in from Paris, where the Rolling Stones are finishing up their latest album, to present honoree Michael Cohl, the Billboard and JUNO Award-winning concert promoter.

"Keith said yes right away," says Peter Soumalias, chair of Canada's Walk of Fame. The guitar God is old pals with Cohl and will be returning to Toronto later this summer anyway to rehearse his upcoming concert tour with the Stones.

Richards' bandmate Mick Jagger recently quipped to the Sun's Jane Stevenson that Cohl should be inducted into the "Masonic Hall of Fame. There is a Jewish branch, I think, up there."

In the past, the Stones have rehearsed at the Masonic Temple in Toronto, courtesy of Cohl.

Oscar-winner Douglas will present the Walk of Fame honour to Kiefer Sutherland. The two are currently in Toronto shooting the upcoming thriller The Sentinel. Lightfoot will do the honours for Daniel Lanois, who has produced classic albums for U2, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel.

The actual star unveilings will take place Sunday June 5 in Toronto and will be broadcast Monday June 6 at 7 p.m. on CTV. Tom Green hosts.

As in Hollywood, where the idea originated, Canada's Walk of Fame can be found underfoot (in the heart of Toronto's theatre district). That may eventually change if Soumalias has his way. A design competition is underway to relocate the stars to eye level.

As Soumalias points out, "It does snow on occasion in Canada."

I just saw this on the CTV news....there has been talk of the stars being raised considering they are under ice and snow for a good portion of the year!
lol
Unlike the Hollywood Walk of Fame a "star" here in Canada cannot essentially be bought for $15,000.00.

I'll have to throw a video tape in the machine for sure!
