Canada's Walk of Fame Airs Monday, June 6 on CTV

Toronto, ON (May 25, 2005) – CTV announced today that its inaugural broadcast of Canada's Walk of Fame will air Monday, June 6 at 7 p.m. ET (check local listings) on CTV.
Hosted by Canadian comedian/actor/rapper Tom Green, the 8th Annual Canada's Walk of Fame broadcast features performances by outstanding international music industry shapers, high-profile dancers and award-winning actors honouring Canada's world class talent.
CTV's entertainment unit, eTalk Daily, will produce a 30-minute Red Carpet special hosted by Ben Mulroney and Tanya Kim. The Red Carpet special will actually incorporate the unveiling of the stars dedicated to this year's inductees. The special, entitled CTV at Canada's Walk of Fame, airs live on Talk TV beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 5 followed by the live broadcast of Canada's Walk of Fame at 6 p.m. ET (check local listings) on Talk TV.
Then, on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings), eTalk Daily will feature the highlights from the awards show and key moments from the red carpet as Mulroney and Kim catch-up with inductees and other celebrities attending the gala.
As previously announced, this year's Canada's Walk of Fame inductees are: world-renowned singer Paul Anka; former Canadian Heavyweight Boxing Champion George Chuvalo; Billboard and JUNO Award-winning concert promoter Michael Cohl; Grammy Awards producer Pierre Cossette ; dancer Rex Harrington; internationally-celebrated music producer/singer/songwriter Daniel Lanois; multiple Grammy and JUNO Award-winning singer/songwriter/actor Alanis Morissette; actor and television star Kiefer Sutherland; and legendary actor, Fay Wray.

This star-packed edition of Canada's Walk of Fame will acknowledge the inductees' impact and contribution to Canada's cultural heritage as well as incorporate a number of musical and dance performances into the show. Michael Bublé will pay tribute to mentor Paul Anka with a special musical performance. Anka, who is celebrating his 47th year in show business, will perform It's My Life from his new album Rock Swings (to be released in Canada on June 7).
"We've got an incredible line-up of stars and performances for this year's show," said Peter Soumalias, Chair of Canada's Walk of Fame. "We're saving a few surprises for the actual show -- I think this is going to be the best Walk of Fame show yet."
Other performances and tributes include an exclusive dance performance by inductee Rex Harrington and an original musical composition performed by Ron Sexsmith, the 2005 JUNO Award recipient for Songwriter of the Year. The ceremony will also include a tribute to Fay Wray by Eion Harris, the winner of this year's Mary Pickford Young Filmmakers Competition.
The inductees will not be the only famous faces at this year's Canada's Walk of Fame gala. Additional stars confirmed to present awards include Jason Bateman, Michael Douglas, Gordon Lightfoot, Norman Jewison and Veronica Tennant, among others.
This year's Canada's Walk of Fame Festival will be celebrated over four days (June 2-5) in Toronto. The start of the festival is marked by the Movies n' Music event at Dundas Square, sponsored by Cineplex and Universal Music. This event will take place each evening during the week. In addition, there will be a benefit rock concert on June 4. The festivities will conclude on Sunday, June 5, with the Star Unveiling, CTV's Red Carpet special, a Chanel Cocktail Reception, the Tribute Gala Show and an exclusive After-Party.
