I recently re-recorded a personal tribute to the men aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald. I, in no way shape or form intend to sell this as it is merely a personal tribute, and I hope you enjoy it. It's been 30 years.

I really like your vocals - obviously since I am on the Gordon Lightfoot site I'm not really into the heavy metal, so I wish the guitars were a little bit tamer.

I don't know, I'm on the Lightfoot site and listen to heavy metal everyday...

When I recorded this (I play all the instruments and sang all the vocals and mixed it myself) it seemed that the heavier guitar sound added a sense of "urgency" to the voyage. In the middle where the solo is ("Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald") I felt it necessary to get the feel of freezing cold water, 25 foot waves and 90 mph winds and being onboard the Fitz at the time.

I am trying to get in contact with Mr. Lightfoot so I may get his blessing to make a video of the song at the Maitime Sailor's Cathedral in Detroit this year as it is the 30th anniversary of this tragic event.

Once again I must stress I am NOT pursuing this for any monetary gain. Being a former sailor myself the inspiration just hit me (driving through a storm) to pay tribute to my unfortunate fellow sailors.

They are not forgotten.

That was the part I liked best - captured the mood I thought.

I hope you are able to do this. I think it would be a wonderful tribute. For the families of the people lost, I'm sure it is a wound just a fresh as it was thirty years ago.
To me it seems unreal that it has been that long since I was listening to news reports about it being lost.
It is very kind of you to honor these men.
