Now that you have chosen three songs you want to hear in concert you have to pick three songs you don't want to hear so as to make room for your new choices.
Which songs get booted?
Blackberry Wine,
Baby Step Back
Ring Them Bells
Char
and don't be picking "Beautiful" either!
LOL

Good question! For me it's a toss-up between Blackberry Wine and Baby Step Back.
I guess I'd like to boot Baby Step Back. it mseems kinda dumb to e...sorry.... I was also done with Blackberry Wine, but he seems to like it so much, he's done it in every concert I've seen since it came out, so I've kind of gotten fond of it over time.
One song I never really liked, and I know I;ll get killed for this, but althoug SSOL is probably my favorite album, the title song has always been one of those songs I've just never been able to like...in fact, I really dislike it.....but considering that he
s written about a gazillion tunes and ther's only one I don't like, that's pretty good, no?
Interesting topic, songs we're not all that crazy about.....
Barbara
oops forgot to include a third one. Um, how about Canary Yellow Canoe? The song's not that bad but it kills me to hear him doing that to his voice! What do you think?

For me it would be, blackberry Wine, I really dont care to much for that, 2nd would be, Alberta bound, I dont know why just dont care for that one, and Cherokee Bend. And to be honest thats probably the only 3 songs of Gord's I dont really care for.

re: BABY STEP BACK - I never hear that song without thinking of Gord explaining that it's about a former brother-in-law who was taking forever to hit a golf ball !!

I like Baby Step Back - just not the concert version - it annoys me for some reason. Maybe because I have never been a huge fan of it and I have heard it so many times in concert!
LOL

Boot Blackberry Wine...awkward lyrics & Gord doesn't have the punch to do straight out rock & roll (sorry Gord!).

Char, your are an angle and a goddess....but, having only ever been to one GL Concert, I would be hard pressed to boot any song, just want to be there and listen. But, I can understand those of you who are repeat concert goers would want a substitute for repeats.
Sundownbuff....you break my heart. Spinning Jenny is a favorite of mine, always puts me in a happy mood, if I heard it in concert I would be dancing in the aisle.

How about replacing Blackberry Wine with, oh, On The High Seas? Or if he wants to stay uptempo, how about High and Dry? I sure would love to hear him do Mountains and Maryann again...

I could only come up with one..."Drifters".
The opening line "I don't believe in miracles" is a real downer. I hope that's not Gord's opinion these days. I believe miracles happen everyday (i.e. childbirth).
However, I don't judge the entire body of work or the artist based on this one song. I love the artist and his work. I do enjoy the melody of Drifters and choose to make up my own lyrics when it's playing.

Margie, It is okay to make a mistake. You can like Cotton Jenny if you want to. That is why Gord wrote so many songs, he makes us all happy. I would rather hear him sing Cotton Jenny that nothing at all.
