Lightfoot band to host workshops in Orillia as part of festival
Workshops during Lightfoot Days Festival will feature two informative sessions, delving into the rich history of Gordon Lightfoot's backup band.
Members of the legendary Lightfoot Band, the longtime backup band of the late Gordon Lightfoot, are excited to announce two special workshops on Friday, Nov. 1. In collaboration with the Lightfoot Days Festival of Orillia, this unique event will take place at Creative Nomad Studios, located at 23 Mississaga St. W. in Orillia.
The workshops will feature two informative sessions, delving into the rich history of Gordon Lightfoot's backup band. Participants can expect engaging discussions and live demonstrations showcasing individual instrument parts and arrangements, as well as insights into Gordon's profound influence on the music over the years. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the event, making it a must-attend for any Lightfoot fan.
The Lightfoot Band comprises the original members who recorded and toured with Gordon Lightfoot for decades. Band veterans Rick Haynes (bass), Barry Keane (drums and percussion), Mike Heffernan (keyboards), and Carter Lancaster (lead guitar) will share their experiences from years of international touring across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and beyond. Joining the band as lead vocalist is Andy Mauck...a close friend of Lightfoot’s for nearly 50 years, Andy has immersed himself in Gordon’s craft, ensuring that the music continues to resonate with audiences today.
