Default Beaumont, TX show

Hello, friends -
Although I don't post much, I felt compelled to do so today, since I doubt there will be anyone else to post anything about last night's show in Beaumont!
It's a 4 1/2 - 5 hour drive from Austin, so a bit more than just a casual drive to a concert. But I will tell you, it was surely worth the time. Gord was in fine form and his voice was strong and tall. The theatre was beautiful, with a very impressive sound system. All the guys sounded great, but Gord was especially impressive. He hit notes (without straining) that I haven't heard in awhile. Very impressive, I must say.

Carter continues to be a wonderful addition, and I noticed a few variations on the familiar licks. In my opinion, I think it's wonderful that he's been able to recreate all the flourishes and fills we're all so familiar with and, at the same time, add a bit of his own style into the mix. The crowd was certainly with him, and showed their approval on many occasions.

In his usual style, Gord announced his pleasure to be in <fill-in-the-blank city name), but, this time, there was a little more to it: "Beaumont, Texas.........yes, I've been a lot of places in Texas, but I ain't never been to Beaumont!" Hilarious laughter and applause ensued, as you can imagine.

The show "stuck to the script" (with the Sweet Guinevere first-set-opener setlist) for the most part, except that Ringneck Loon took the place of Ring Them Bells in the second set and he excluded the Trilogy this time. He probably had to exclude CRT because of all the standing ovations that ate up the clock (I counted seven). Hey, who knew there were so many GL fans in Beaumont, TX? I guess we know now.

It was a tremendous evening. I'm always so grateful to be able to keep seeing him.
Long may it last!

Happy 2012 to all!

Melissa

Hey Hey Blondie! thanks for the report and happy to hear the show was so well received.
Sounds like when he was in Banff in November - the folks loved that he finally showed up in their town.
say HI to my b.f.
