Many thanks (I ghink) Tony for finding and posting that link to the November 2006 Montreal Kaybeck bootleg recording
I persevered and finally after an unnecessarily convoluted struggle I succeeded in downloading (in just under 12 minutes) the 139MB zip file from the file factory free storage website,Then I used the freeware program Jzip (as I have previously recommended see my posting at:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...46&postcount=2)
I now have the complete 2006 concert as a set of 36 high quality (192KBPS) mp3s that could in due course allow me to burn a pair of continuous
(i.e. gapless concert style CDs (again as per my aforementioned posting) (that 36 includes 10 individual talk /band intro tracks)
I saw in the info text file (GL20061109info.txt) presumably written and included by the original uploader that the set was originally in lossless (FLAC) format but his/her appeal to "Please pass on in a lossless format only in even trade or as a gift only."
obviously went unheeded
A small point of order here: no doubt Gord's band intro includes Terry who is strangely omitted from the listing shown on that text file!!
If I could even start to remember the procedure I followed to get this far I would compose a guide but quite honestly that filefactory website has to be the most deliberately obfuscating setup I have ever had the misfortune to encounter!
I had to follow a seemingly unending series of alleged download links and ignored a number of attemps to get me to download a video facility program entitled
"livid" which only made me livid plus frequent blandishments to shell out big bucks to secure faster downloads but having signed up and signed in at least twice I was able to download several irrelevant htm web pages and waited for several puerile countdowns before eventually finding and clicking on a genuine download link that actually started saving the zip file.Of course your mileage may vary.
A much better course to obtain this concert is to sign up at
http://hungercity.org
where after signing in
a search there should get you to
http://www.hungercity.org/details.php?id=8277
which is a BIt Torrent for the original higher quality FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) file set which totals some 536 MB in 39 files. earlier I had burnt a pair of good sounding CDs directly from the flacs using the Australian Express Burn program
If you do succeed in taming that hunger city website and are then wondering what to do with either the torrent control (tracking) file or the downloaded flacs then ask Mr Google nicely
Tip find Brian's Bit Torrent FAQ webpage
http://www.btfaq.com
(if it is still refusing to open
try the internet Archive at:-
