Alison Krauss & Shadows
Last night (Tuesday 12th Feb) on BBC 4 TV I noticed a program of Alison Krauss performing songs from a CD " A Hundred Miles or More" I like Alison Krauss so decided to record it. Using the wonderfull box of tricks which allows pausing live TV etc. I used the Electronic Program Guide, found the channel trawled across to the program and pressed record. Fool proof, no faffing about with start time and finish time. What could be easier? Just about everything else it would seem.
This morning I called it up to watch, to see that only 6 minutes had been recorded, ahhh devestation! Pressed play only to see Alison ending a song followed by the credits. I like to peruse the credits of programs, BTW, I admire the speed you Americans can read, the credits fly past at a terriffic pace, but with the pause button we don't need to develop our speed reading technique. I noticed on the song credits "Shadows" written by Gordon Lightfoot" I was now really miffed that the whole program was not recorded.
I see that Alison sings Shadows accompanied by Tony Rice on the DVD of A Hundred Miles or More, it does not seem to be on the CD.
Has anybody seen the DVD? If so does Alison do a good job? I assume that she does as she is an excellent singer.

Hi Jim,
You will be interested in this thread
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread...ghlight=Alison
also, try this site's "search" feature and just type in "Alison"... lots of stuff here, and lots of Alison Krauss fans as well.
Sorry to hear of your "technical difficulties" in attempting to record what sounds like a tremendous performance. Better luck next time, eh?

Re: Alison Krauss & Shadows
Thanks for the response Peter, I have just watched said program on the BBC's iplayer, and NO Gordon Lighfoot song. She did "Sawing on the Strings" with Tony Rice. The rolling credits must have come from the DVD. But what she did sing was GREAT. A good little program. I have just clicked your link, that must come from the DVD, and as I thought a very good rendition. Thanks again.

Re: Alison Krauss & Shadows
Just cliked on the play arrow, and this is agreat version of a classic song. Thanks for posting. I found a good version of Alison and Tony doing 16 Miles to 7 Lakes tucked away in there. I also found Tony Rice doing a song I was not aware off, All The WayTo Texas. One to include in my badly sung repertoire. Thanks again for posting.

Hi, could you also add the 16 Miles to 7 Lakes (and any other GL covers) to this AK covers thread?

Re: Alison Krauss & Shadows
ii, I found 16 miles by watching EMR, when it finishes a bunch of stills pop up at bottom of screen, with a whole raft of songs, the 3rd one along is 16 miles. I am watching it now as I type this.
