As we all know it's been a very macabe summer in terms of well known individuals passing on. Overall,2003 has been pretty down and out as well, what with soldiers having to fight & perish in battle.
At the outset of the year, only a few major names passed on. Then starting in May and over these last 4 months,it's seemed like it's been happening everyday. I think yesterday,at work,I finally reached my breaking point with it.
I got to work 30 mins. early, shaved my face, then combed my hair, clocked in and went into the break room. I was getting a soda as an eye-opener when I look at the TV and I notice clips of 3's Company going by. At first,I thought Don Knotts had been claimed, but then I saw John Ritter in his other movies and TV shows.
That's when I went,oh-no. It better not be. Of course,it was. For the rest of the day,I was pretty quiet, even when I saw Johnny Cash's name later. Of course,I was and still kind of am,stunned by Ritter's sudden exit.
At home,I tried to watch 3's Company as a gesture of remembrance but I could hardly laugh. It was even one of my fav's. Where Jack goes to jail for belting a cop and while in the cell, acts like a bad a** to scare the other cellmates.
Today, while working,I finally had to excuse myself and I let out my sadness in the restroom. I wasn't crying just for the sake of John Ritter, but more overall because as far as the whole year of departures.
Especially May to yesterday. I even asked God,why him? Why didn't you warn him somehow? Why not Bin-Laden or Saddam? Or someone who's making this place a mess? This is just to many people in too short a time!
I stayed in there for 10 mins. Then I composed myself and came out, finished the day and came here. This message is not just to sum up my feelings but to pay one final grande homage to all those who've gone. I wish I had time for a seperate thread for each of them but that would be quite obsessive and morose.
I think in the case of John Ritter though,it was that it was the one of the last people you'd expect this to happen to. I think that's what finally set me off. RIP to him and all. Amen.

Yes it has bin a bad year, with Johnny Cash & his wife and John Ritter passing away and what not. It seems so long ago since January when I was sitting in Home Ec. class watching the war updates on the news. And then I heard about that respiration disease(I forgot the name of it) and Gords surgery.
And I also get the feeling that it's not over yet. We've still got another 3 1/2 months before the years up and something else could and probably will happen between now and January.

I'm in a somewhat better mood today. Still recovering of course, from all of this and also a slight head cold. This year puts me in mind of 1998. A lot of famous individuals left us that year too. Roy Rogers,Gene Autry,Shari Lewis,Flip Wilson,Esther Rolle,Mary Frann (JoAnna on Newhart) and Frank Sinatra. (Just to name but a few.) It's strange, that year didn't have the same affect on me that this year has. Maybe with Ritter's sudden departure it made it impossible to just let it roll off my shoulders. Not that I was ever indifferent about it,but this time was just somehow, different. Later!

It wasn't in poor taste, B, and it wasn't funny because DM wasn't attempting humor. In his earlier post he couldn't remember the name of the respiratory disease and he posted this one because he remembered - that's all there was to it.

Hey, Borderstone, instead of of trying to create a world record in number of posts written. Try reading some. You just may grasp exactly what people are saying.

And now we can add Sheb Wooley, he of the "One-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people-eater" fame. See story: http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusic/sep17_wooley-ap.html

Borderstone: I apologize if I sounded as though I were attempting humor. But I don't have that way of words like some others do. That's the way I am in person to. But honestly, I really had forgotten the name of the SARS virus. (I think the reason it sounded like that was because I was in a hurry, almost time for the bell to ring to go to class.)

To Patent Pending,I do read these posts. I don't memorize them. Nor do I have the time to. If my comment was out of line to DMD3,then I apologize. No need to get personal up here, nobody's perfect. By the way,no one cares how many posts someone puts up here,as long as they're something worth typing to become something worth the time to read. In other words,I'm always relevant. Thanks for you're intrest, now go and register and enjoy yourself. Later! (By the way, this post is just 1 before infinity!! )

Who on this entire website has more posts than anyone? This is my 221st post. Has anyone hit 1,000? I don't have time to go thru all those profiles but most of the ones I have went to have more than me.

Nobody cares? An odd way of showing it.
Only 629? Must try harder.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Borderstone's posts. He's a member of this Internet community and has quite often sparked some very good discussions. With Lightfoot out of commission for awhile, no new songs or concert reviews to write about, things could get pretty boring around here if it weren't for Borderstone's interest in digging through the archive to find interesting topics. I like hearing the newer member's comments on threads that were posted a couple years ago.
Nobody is being forced to read each and every thread, or each and every message in a thread. Basically, I'm saying if you don't like Borderstone's comments or threads, skip them and go on to the next, or start a thread on a subject that you are interested in.
Want to see what happens to a group where people don't actively look for topics to discuss? Go take a look at the newsgroup. It has basically turned in to alt.members.happybirthday with very little Lightfoot discussion. Sad, but true.
Carry on, Borderstone. There are many of us who enjoy reading what you have to say. It's refreshing to me to see people from the 'younger generation' taking an interest in Gord's music.

A topic isn't the same if Borderstone hasn't had his say in it.

I have to say I don't have a problem with Borderstone's posts. However I occasionally read a post which appears to contradict something written in a previous post. I then comment on it. Maybe I shouldn't.
I just get the impression that every now and again Borderstone engages mouth before engaging brain.
It is the diversity of people and attitudes and opinions that makes this world an interesting place.
Imagine a Hollywood world where we are all luvvey duvvey and touchy feeley, UGH.

First off, thanks for the kind words Cathy! I like your posts to! ///
To Patent Pending. If my posts are different it's for this simple reason. I respond to what I respond to that day and then I go about my life as usual. When I say I don't memorize the posts, that includes my own. To only read and remember mine would be what they call "narcessism" (indulging one's self or ego.) This website is fun to post on but like most fun things in life,it's not the center of one's concentration. So Patent Pending, why don't you put your time here to better use than nitpicking about a person you don't even know about. I don't know you either and I'm not exactly into responding to all this in the first place,so this will be my final response in the last place. By the way,I'd love a "big hug" kind of world! At least I wouldn't have to keep my guard up.
