This is a 1st for me. Posting a non-Gord topic. I'll make this easy. How many of you out there would give anything (within reason) to get all reality shows off TV? Now,I don't mean the News or discussion programs but I DO mean all the one's that appeal to the lowest level of human I.Q. comprehension? Please! Someone cancel Fear Factor! Cancel all these lame dating shows! Cancel the shows where a man or woman chooses from a group of people to find uh,"true love." Cancel Jackass, cancel Cops because this show has gone beyond predictable and just plain dull. Keep America's Most Wanted though. I don't watch it but I know it does a service to the general populace. I'm sure I left a few out but I know you gt what I mean. I truly miss the days of early MTV,the big three networks dramas & comedies and PBS. (At least PBS's reality shows have a brain!) Wait, also Survivor & Big Brother too! What a waste of the airwaves! Well,I feel better, now what do you think? Peace it up!

Borderstone, your posts are too funny. Sometimes I laugh out loud reading them.

I totally agree about the reality shows. I don't watch any of them. I remember when Survivor first started, almost everyone I know (at work, friends) was talking about it. I still had no desire to tune in. I'm disappointed that a lot of other shows are being cancelled because they can't compete with these reality shows. For example, I heard they're cancelling Just Shoot Me because it couldn't get the ratings. I liked that show. Oh well.

I don't watch them either, although other members of my family do. I think they are silly and a waste of my time! I'd rather live my own "Reality"...which of course includes a LOT of good music and time spent outside with the kids if the weather is nice!!!! Oh, and talking...I just love a good conversation. I'm glad that my kids are getting old enough for us to really have some intelligent and interesting conversations.

It's also amazing to me that the networks are now paying "regular" people a prize of millions to be on whichever of these but when an actor (that includes the women) asks for a simple salary raise when their show starts doing well, the act like the head of the orphnage in Oliver Twist. "Please sir,can I have more residuals?" "MORE?!" "You want more?!!" "To the VH1 countdown specials you go!!" One thing for certain,I don't care what the prize is,you wont see me embarrasing myself. Who Wants To Be a Millionare or Pyramid & Wheel of Fortune maybe, but not a show where I almost literally have to kill myself trying to win. Besides,if I'm going to "go free" on a national level,it'll be in a Naturist Magazine. I'm not surprised about,"Just Shoot Me". Having watched Network TV for so long,I know that the minute a show goes into re-runs after only less than 5 years,it wont be making it much longer. Especially though, when they bring in a new character. I don't even know her name! I liked it too but it was never really a "Powerhouse" of ratings and I recall that it debuted around the same time as Rob Schneider's,"Men Behaving Badly",which was a number of times worse. Well,it's been me,Peace It Up!

Have you seen the show "Scare Tactics"? It's awful! You can tell the people on there are simply acting. And doing a very poor job of acting, I might add.
"Scariest Places On Earth", it was interesting the 1st time I watched it, but showing close-ups of the people screaming and nothing else to hint that there are ghosts about, give me a break .

Yes,unfortunately I've seen "Scare". Someone out there has a very sick mind not to mention that TV writers and all associated must be fresh out of ideas! I've seen teo seperate segments but never watched a whole show. The fisrt I don't recall but the 2nd is where these young guys are having a bachelor party or something and the female dancer goes in to take a shower and it's made to look like the 1 bachelor had something to do with it. He's freaking out while his so called friends are hiding their laughter. If that's someone's idea of funny, then the people making these shows must have been former high school idiots! Later. Peace it up!

It's so lame. If it were scary or really funny I'd like it. The commercials make it sound pretty good but it definetely sucks. I can't say it any plainer than that.

I don't watch any of the "reality" shows but many do. I just choose to do something else - read, sleep, garden, spend time with my kids or watch other shows I do enjoy. Taking them off the air because I dislike them hardly seems right. I sure wouldn't want those fans of the reality shows to take my TV pleasures away just because they aren't what they want to watch. I might not know how to work a lot of buttons on my TV clicker but I do know the on/off and the channel changer buttons.
just my opinion - i may be wrong..(dennis miller)

They may be lame but they are just a passing fad anyway. Somebody is making a boatload from them though. Something I would not complain about.

If they are (and I know they are) that should really be a crime! How about highway robbery? Contributing to the stupidity of all minors? Public nuisence? Disturbing the peace of mind? Indecent over-exposure? Counterfeiting (in terms of passing this tripe off as entertainment?) I'd sooner watch "The Andy Griffith Show!" Andy! Andy! I nipped 'em in the bud! Yep! That's what I say! Lock'em all up! Later!
